Windows 10: Install over Windows 7 has problems - can I reinstall over Windows 7

I've really made a mess of keeping this thread (or series of conversations) in order. I would like to learn the right way to post when there are more than one person I'm communicating with.

 

I'm familiar with Belarc and use it. Speccy is good as well. A lot of OEMs and especially Dell has a habit of manipulating drivers to work with their systems. That makes the normal drivers downloaded from the manufacturer not work properly.

 

Shouldn't I use Belarc or Speccy to give you my specs?

 

Either one if you don't know your specs. Both programs are very good.

 

I would like to know how to include screenshots and files in both posts and replies. I never could figure it out (maybe I've just been lazy) . Do I need to convert a screenshot into a file format first before posting? Is there a tutorial for this - or is it simple enough for you to just tell me (I know I might be asking for your time unnecessarily - and that's not my intent). I get to the File Upload Manager and I'm "assuming" that you cannot embed a screenshot in a post - but have to convert it to a file first. I suspect this is the way I have to go and I've answered my own question. Please confirm.

Also, I've noticed that you folks annotate your screenshots. Please tell me what program you use for this.

ANOTHER CLUE: I've noticed that my CPU usage approaches 100% momentarily just before the blinking cycle starts.

I use Screenpresso to take and annotate screenshots. The free version is good enough for what I need.

 

I have been using Snagit. When I installed Screenpresso (to try it), I was told to shut down Snagit because there might be a conflict. Snagit is set to start with a Windows boot. So I have to remove it from The Startup menu. Problem is, In W10, I don't know where that is.

Also, as of today, the notification area and the System Tray don't appear nearly as often (since I stopped the Autohide). I restarted the Autohide, but still have the problem with thos two areas that aren't showing up often enough to make the computer somewhat useful.

 

Snagit is a good program. You can find Screenpresso at C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Learnpulse\Screenpresso\Screenpresso.exe

Just for information, I just ran sfc /scannow on all my user accounts - and now they all show corrupt files that can't be fixed.&nbsp; I did this several times for each account.&nbsp; Then, I re-installed Windows 10 which I thought might put those system files back - but I'm still showing corrupt or missing files in the sfc.&nbsp; The Taskbar continues to blink.&nbsp; The Notification area and the System Tray continue to take a long time to appear - then they disappear before the next blink.<br>

Seems to be a lot of missing services.

 

@simrick will need to look at the files you uploaded.

Did you do a clean install or a repair install?

 

Repair install. I have far too many programs and settings to consider a clean install. That would have to be an absolutely last resort - and I probably would leave this Earth before I was done - seriously! Being a caregiver takes up almost all of my time. Now I'm going to see what else you folks requested and try to upload that. Probably the sfc details.

AdwCleaner only found a lot of PUPs. I deleted them all.

Would you please resend me the path to get the sfcdetails. I'm having trouble finding it. Also, what else do you need from me? Can't find that either.

 

Tossing an idea in here. What BIOS version are you on? Most current is A16.
