Install Win10 ISO onto new SSD drive?

Hello @topgundcp, I'm not a techie but my intuition says letting it create all the system partitions is no problem and Windows is probably creating them for a good reason. The tiny amount of space they use is totally not an issue for me.

I will follow your suggestion. I think its best cause I don't want to spend time wrapping my head around MBR vs UEFI install.

Hello @essenbe, I will post here how the install goes. I should get my new SSD in about 10 days. Cheers,

If thats the case why was i told to run certain commands like "diskpart", select disk , clean etc... so none of that is necessary , you can just stick a new SSD in your computer and clean install from an ISO ?

On another note , i have also found the tutorials to be confusing and have avoided trying to follow them , i just get lost but they appear to be fine for most.

They are step by step and they all work, as far as I know.

Install Win10 ISO onto new SSD drive?

    • True if the brand new SSD comes with a single unallocated partition then it would be redundant to use diskpart.
    • If the disk comes pre formatted with MBR/NTFS format and if you want to install Windows using GPT then you would use diskpart to make it unallocated and let Windows Installation initialize it as GPT disk and create the needed partitions.
    • If the disk comes pre formatted with MBR/NTFS format and if you want to install Windows using MBR then you can install it as is. However, Windows will not create an extra 500MB reserved partition. You would end up with one single C drive. If you want the reserved partition created then you need diskpart to make it unallocated and let Windows creates the needed partitions.

As a normal practice. We always recommend to run diskpart to make sure the disk is unallocated and in addition, just connect only the disk you want to install Windows on to make sure the reserved partition will be put on the same disk as Windows OS.
