    Correction* Windows Upgrade Error Code 0xC1900101-0X20017, The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase, with an error during the Boot operation.

    I have a Toshiba Satiellite Running on Windows 8.1 and have been trying, on and off, for several months to upgrade to MS Windows 10. After solving several other error codes, I can't get by this one without asking for help. Everything seems to update and
    load fine, but I consistantly get this error code and it reboots back to Windows 8.1. (Windows Upgrade Error Code 0xC1900101-0X20017, The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase, with an error during the Boot operation.)

    Any suggestions on how to solve this?

    HI all,

    Can someone advise on the following error message

    0xC1900101 - 0x20017 The installation failed on the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation

    Please note that this computer spec is

    Pentuim processor G3250

    Gigabyte motherboard 1150 chipset (latest BIOS)

    8GB RAM

    240GB SSD with over 100GB free space

    Windows 8.1 (OEM install)

    Other notes

    Run SFC / Scannow with no reported errrors

    New computer with initial installation of window 8.1 OEM

    Updated to all latest drivers

    Unistalled AV (Emsisoft)

    Apart from a fresh re-install to the inconvenience to the client i cannot currently find a way around this. Very poor from Microsofts stand point. Offering free upgrades to windows 10 and been unable to deliver on this.
