Windows 10: Installation of Network Adapter driver

Hello everyone. I recently had some problem with my wifi as it regularly had ping spikes every 5-6 secopnd. I tried Network reset under Network and internet settings.

Afterwards my network adapter did not work.
It did not show up in Network connections. When checking Device manager, it shows up in "other devices" as "network controller". When checking device status, it says
"The drivers for this device are not installed. Code 28



The installation of this device is forbidden by system policy. Contact your system administrator."

Same message when trying to update the driver.


I have so far tried doing the network reset again and restarting computer.
I have also tried the following methods:
Disabling "Prohibit non-administrators from applying vendor signed updates" in group policy.

Selecting "all users except local administrator" in Software Restrictions Policies

And creating Disable MSI with value 0 in HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer.


I'm currently out of options. Anyone have some ides on how to fix the problem?

Install a driver for your network adapter

Go to the list of network adapters in the control panel, turn of the lan and turn it on again. See if that helps.

• Download the latest Wireless network adapter driver setup file from the manufacturer’s website and install it.

I suggest you to uninstall the network adapter driver from the device manager by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Press Windows key + X keys on the keyboard and click on
  Device Manager from the options.
• Expand the Network adapters from the options.
• Right click on the wireless network card and select
  Uninstall.
• Restart the computer for automatic installation of network adapters and check if the changes are effective.

Update network adapter driver from the device manager by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Press Windows key + X keys on the keyboard and click on
  Device Manager from the options.
• Expand the Network adapters from the options.
• Right click on the wireless network card and select Update option.
• Restart the computer and check if the changes are effective.
