  1. Installed Windows 10, suddenly Monitor Resolution is Limited to 1080

I finally decided to take the risk and upgrade to Windows 10 (never wanted to, anticipating a host of issues). Low and behold, instantly, my monitor is being limited to 1920 x 1080.

I have the current Windows 10 version.

Monitor: ASUS PB277Q which should be 2560 x 1440 (and was, just fine, on Windows 7)

Graphics Card: AMD Radeon 6670 (just updated the drivers for it)

And yes, like everyone else, my monitor driver is showing up as Generic PnP in the drivers. And yes, I'm fully aware that there are issues with HDMI and flat panels with reporting from the monitor to the display driver exactly what its capability is. Fact is, this began only the moment I updated to Windows 10. I'm not interested in some lame Microsoft tech answers along the line of "update your drivers" or "unplug the monitor for an hour." These are trite responses and might as well not even exist in time.

    :)

  3. Monitor resolution

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your question in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are facing issues with screen resolution. I will try to help you in fixing the issue.

To help you suggest more steps to resolve the issue, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

What exactly happens when you try to change the screen resolution? Do you get any error message?

The recommended resolution on windows 10 is 1920 x 1080. Change the resolution to 1920 x 1080 and check.

The reason why your display was stretched sideways is because the resolution was in-corrected.

Here are the steps to change the screen resolution:

    • Right Click the Desktop and select
      Screen Resolution.
    • Click the Make text and other items larger or smaller link.
    • In the Change only the text size section click the
      drop down menu
to select the items you want to change.
    Hope the information was helpful

    3840 x 1080 resolution

Just received Samsung CHG90 monitor that can support a resolution up to 3840 x 1080 however that is not an option in my display settings. I have updated the drivers for my video card (Nvidia GeForce GT 520) 2560 x 1080 is the highest option available.
I am using an HDMI connection. Is there a setting or limitation in windows or my videocard ?
