Installing iCloud for Windows Breaks Autorefresh

I have two computers running Win 10 Pro with latest updates. The machine at my office is a client of Windows Server 2012R2 Essentials. After configuring the office machine to retrieve mail from my Mac account as well as my windows mail on outlook, I noticed that my computer would not auto-refresh after I created a shortcut or after I deleted any item from the desktop. I could see the shortcut or the disappearance of the deleted items only after a manual refresh. I finally fixed the problem by resetting the computer (reinstalling Windows 10). That was a pain, but it worked.

Today I was cleaning up my home Windows 10 Pro machine (a stand alone computer that I often remote into my office machine) and loaded the latest version of iCloud for Windows from the Microsoft Store. As soon as it was installed the Windows 10 machine (1903) auto-refresh was broken. I deleted iCloud for Windows and after a restart the computer refreshes normally (automatically).

Please, try to replicate this behavior and suggest a fix for the problem.

Windows and Icloud Mail etc: Failing to initialise

    Hi
    TomParkinson2
    ,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Could you please help me with the below questions:

    1. Are you aware of making any changes to the computer prior to the issue?
    2. Do you receive any error message when the spinner stops?

I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

    Method 1: Uninstall iCloud application.

I would suggest you to Sign out from the iCloud account from the app, then uninstall the application.

    1. Press Windows
and R key together on your Keyboard.
    2. Type appwiz.cpl and hit enter.
    3. Select the iCloud application and click on Uninstall.

    Method 2: Reinstall iCloud application.

    Step 1:

    I would suggest you toDownload
    the latest version of iCloud

from the apple website. Follow the Onscreen instructions and install the application. For more information, check the article on
Set up and use iCloud for Windows.

    Step 2:

Once the installation is completed, tap on the Windows key on your keyboard, search for ICloud app. Right click on the app and click on
    Pin to taskbar.

If you are using Surface PC, I would suggest you to follow steps mentioned in the Microsoft article about
    Using Surface with iPhone, iCloud,
    and iTunes.

    Hope it helps.

Windows 10 Pro and Ergnomic Break Reminder

    Hi,

    Apologies for the late reply.

Do you remember installing any break reminder software?

It looks like it is a pop up from a break reminder software.

I suggest you to look for this in Programs in features and uninstall it if do not use it.

    Try the following steps:

    • Press Windows + R keys to open Run Command

    • Type Appwiz.cpl and hit enter

    • Search for the programs and un-install it.

    Regards,
