Windows 10: Installing Lotus Smartsuite on Windows 10 - Information

Hi all


I previously opened a topic about not being able to install Lotus Smartsuite (last edition) on a new build Windows 10 machine.

After several abortive attempts I eventually gave up and installed an inferior application that could work with the files in a very basic way.


That computer was written off when the room it was in got flooded!


I have built a new computer to replace it. The main difference being I used a Gigabyte motherboard (GA AX370 gaming 5) rather than an MSI (B350 Tomahawk). I have used the same range of processor (AMD Ryzen) and the same memory (Crucial DDR4)


Lotus Smartsuite loads perfectly in the manner I had always done on Win 10 and runs perfectly.

Could it be something to do with the motherboard? Seems strange something like that could affect loading of programs.

Will Lotus SmartSuite 9.8.2 work with Windows 10?

I've spent the evening trying to install SmartSuite 98.1 on Windows 10 64-bit Pro. Running Setup.exe hung. Running StartAutoRun.exe (called out in Autorun.exe) hung. But running the C54MKIE.exe file is working.

Thanks for the suggestion to try the alternatives. It got me past the problem.

what does this have to do with running lotus smartsuite on windows 10? did you use smartsuite on windows 7 and then install windows 10 and find that it still runs?

Just a thought, Lotus Smartsuite is no longer available or supported by IBM, except by buying old versions that may or may not work on Windows 10.

I had this problem during the week, where I was Installing Windows 10 on a Windows Vista system, all the users docs were Lotus Smartsuite docs - .123, .lwp . . . etc

I found the simplest way to access these docs with an up-to-date app was to load Open Office. Open Office will open most if not all Lotus SmartSuite docs with no problem at all and no compatibility issues
