Windows 10: Installing Windows 10 Tech Preview on Primary PC

Where would I find the unallocated region? Is it the system reserved partition?

 

You create one in disk management... here is what I have set up on my PC: Drive 1 is my SSD that has the OS's and programs... It started out with Win8.1 and then I created a partition with disk management.. then I formatted and named it. then I followed the instruction for a clean install.. in my case I used a DVD. On Windows 7 I have Acer (C:0 and System Reserved? Do I choose System Reserved?

 

No.. on drive 0 you need to create a new partition with disk management. Don't use the System Reserved .. if you do you will not be able to boot into Win7.

 

I am sorry for the lack of knowledge. But, how do I create a partition?

 

Follow the instruction in post #13 and #14.. and you can Google .. how to create a portion in Win7.

 

You need to post a screen shot of disk layout for Bunny. Hard for him to do this blind.

 

I have decided not to do it. Its just too confusing for me. I will just wait for the full release of 10.

 

I guess that's the best thing to do. If partitioning is confusing enough for you, leave windows 10 for later when everything is ready.

 

Whatever you do, don't install Google Earth on build 10049. It will crash your system, ultimately forcing you to reinstall (repair will brink your system). Looking at Windows Feedback shows me I'm not the only one.

 

Jesse, If I was you I would wait. Didn't we try to help you with this before?

 

Winuser, yes you all did and that's what I am going to do. It isn't too far away, so I guess waiting will not be so bad.

 

When you decide you are ready to install Windows 10 we will be glad to help you. *Smile One thing I suggest you do first is make a backup of your current OS in case you run into any problems.
