You can see it all around E3: Gaming isn’t just about playing anymore. It’s about competition and engaging with the community. As a technology leader in PC gaming, Intel focuses on three things when it comes to making the PC the best place to play: giving developers the tools they need, providing real world performance and anticipating what’s next.

Equipping the Development Community

Developers are delivering epic stories that depend on large-scale character animation, realistic environments and complex game mechanics. They need a consistent and predictable range of gaming performance on PCs to deliver the best experience for gamers. Every year, we reach more than 2 million developers and help bring to market more than 120 PC games. We work side-by-side with developers to provide support across performance and graphics optimization, including game testing and development tools, for a wide range of PCs. At E3, you’ll see the breadth of Intel’s partnerships on display.

Why Performance Matters for Gaming

Intel’s leaders discussed performance leadership at Computex with the special edition 9th Gen Intel® Core™ i9-9900KS processor. Coming this holiday, it will make the world’s best gaming desktop processor1even better. For laptop gamers, our 9th Gen Intel Core H-series mobile processors deliver desktop-caliber performance. Twenty million PC gaming enthusiasts place their trust in us every year to continue pushing boundaries on a spectrum of games, and we’re paying this off with performance advantages from 5 GHz speeds, tuning tools for maximum CPU performance, and expanded platform capabilities including Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) and Intel® Optane™ memory. And, we’re making strides to grow the gaming enthusiast overclocking community with the Intel® Performance Maximizer – coming June 18 – that makes overclocking on desktops more accessible to the masses.

Performance leadership is also about pioneering in areas that others aren’t. We want anyone buying a new PC to be able to have a great gaming experience. I’m saying this as someone who enjoys having options. I game on a custom-built desktop when I’m at home or on my MSI GS65 Stealth laptop with an Intel Core i7 processor when I’m on the move, but I increasingly want a great gaming experience on any PC, including those not purpose-built for gaming.

An example of this is how we improve casual gaming on ultrathin laptops. The new 10th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris® Plus graphics coming this fall will bring nearly 2x2 graphics performance and up to 2x3 faster FPS on many popular titles in 1080p. It’s this type of uncompromised PC gaming experience on any device we’re making the standard.

Shaping What’s Next for PC Gaming

My job at Intel is ensuring we’re always breathing new life into PC gaming by delivering first-rate technology and pathfinding for the future. And here’s what I see coming:

Gaming is moving rapidly to the cloud, and Intel is enabling more ways for people to access their favorite games. We are collaborating with industry leaders, including Tencent*, PlayGiga*, Gamestream*, and telcos and service providers, to deliver the best cloud gaming experiences for everyone.

We’re committed to improving the graphics experience of more than a billion people worldwide. For system improvements and smooth playability, we’re making headway by providing Day 0 graphics driver support for the latest titles at launch. Moreover, gamers – based on their hardware – can leverage Intel – Gameplay to find optimal game settings or use the Intel® Graphics Command Center for one-click game optimization.

Intel to Bring 5G to Mobile PCs by 2019

Today, Intel announced it is collaborating with Dell, HP, Lenovo and Microsoft to bring 5G connectivity to Windows PCs with Intel XMM 8000 series commercial 5G modems. Intel expects the first high-performing 5G-connected PCs to surface in the market in the second half of 2019.

Mobile World Congress (MWC) attendees will get a first sneak peek at a concept 5G-connected PC - a detachable 2 in 1 - connected by an early 5G modem and powered by 8th Generation Intel Core i5 processors. At MWC, Intel will showcase the power of 5G on a PC by livestreaming video over the 5G network. This concept is one of many stepping stones for moving the industry forward in what's possible for 5G-enabled PCs.

5G is not just another generation of wireless connectivity. It promises new opportunities for technology innovation across the computing and connectivity landscape from the cloud to the network and the client.

The PC is a central hub for processing incredible amounts of data. 5G is coming. Not only will it bring a substantial amount of data needing processing but also new experiences for PC owners. Imagine immersing in untethered VR from anywhere in the world, or downloading a 250 megabyte file in seconds from a parking lot. Or imagine being able to continue participating in a multiplayer game as you ride in an autonomous vehicle on the way to class. Radically different. This is just a sampling of the experiences 5G will reimagine for the mobile PC. As this transformation of data continues, it's critical for PCs to be ready with 5G.

In addition to 5G:
At MWC, Intel will also showcase the latest steps it has taken to build toward a more connected future with:

11ax, the next big thing in Wi-Fi. A thin PC with 802.11ax Wi-Fi will be on display at the Intel's booth in Hall 3 at Stand 3E31. 802.11ax builds enhanced levels of manageability and network efficiency, and will be a critical part of the connected future with 5G.

eSIM functionality will be on display at Intel's booth in Hall 3 at Stand 3E31. As of September 2017, all of Intel's modem solutions for PCs support eSIM in enterprise and consumer segments. eSIM is an essential feature for connected PCs, and Intel plans to continue offering it going forward. Intel continues to work across the ecosystem to ensure our end customers enjoy seamless out-of-the-box experiences.

Intel is investing deeply across its wireless portfolio and partners to bring 5G-connected mobile PCs to market, with benefits for users, like high-quality video on-the-go, high-end gaming, and seamless connections as users traverse Wi-Fi and cellular networks. With 5G's critical speeds and capacity, Intel will help to open the door to new experiences hardly imaginable today, and make connecting online from anywhere, anytime the norm.

All Things Xbox at E3 2019 Briefing on June 9

At Xbox we’ve been hard at work and are excited to share more of our plans for one of the gaming industry’s biggest annual events. That’s right: E3 is just under two months away and we’ve got a great show lined up for gaming fans around the world. From our briefing to our fan events, the Xbox Experience to the Xbox Official Gear Shop, this will be our biggest E3 presence ever and we can’t wait to share more about what we’ve got up our sleeves for the future. Whether you play your games on Xbox One or on a PC, are fans of RPGs, first-person shooters and everything in between, or just like watching others play games, there will be something for everyone at E3.

We start planning for E3 just days after the big show every year and we couldn’t be more excited for what we have in store for you this June. We’ll be kicking things off with our annual Xbox E3 2019 Briefing, which you can watch live beginning on Sunday, June 9 at 1 p.m. PDT. During the briefing, you’ll have a chance to check out everything from trailers for unannounced titles coming in 2019 and beyond to in-depth looks at previously announced games. You can watch the Xbox E3 2019 Briefing live beginning at 1 p.m. PDT on Sunday, June 9 on the official Xbox Mixer Channel or on the Mixer app for Xbox One and Windows 10.

Once again, we will plan to have a MixPot (the Mixer feature that drops free content for logged-in viewers on certain streams) for our briefing, so be sure to log in to Mixer to get your free MixPot content! The Xbox E3 2019 Briefing will be offered in six languages on Mixer: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish (LATAM), Portuguese (LATAM), and includes support for English Closed Captions. To select an alternate language, click the “cog” button within Mixer to view the available list. We’re excited for more fans all around the world to join in on the Xbox E3 2019 Briefing festivities.

You’ll also be able to catch a live stream of the briefing on other streaming services, which we’ll be announcing soon, as well as on the big screen at select Microsoft Stores.

We’re also happy to share that Inside Xbox, our showcase sharing everything great in the world of Xbox, will be airing a special episode during E3. Inside Xbox: Live @ E3 will air Monday, June 10 at 3 p.m. PDT and will feature a livestream full of exclusive announcements, game demos, interviews, and more.

For those fans attending E3, we’ll have plenty of opportunities to check out what we’ve got going on during the show. The Microsoft Theater and the Xbox Plaza at LA Live will be our home for all of our activities throughout the week. We’re happy to share that not only will the Xbox Experience will be returning this year to the Microsoft Theater, we’ll have it open from Tuesday through Thursday, just like the E3 Expo itself. The Xbox Experience gets bigger this year with over 100 gameplay stations on the main stage and a massive, dedicated Xbox merchandise shop.

This year, the Mixer team is bringing a ton of streaming activities to LA Live with the launch of the Mixer Dome, a dedicated space in the Xbox Plaza where gamers can play, stream, and interact with games like never before. The Mixer Dome will be bringing plenty of excitement to E3, featuring a variety of unique experiences you won’t want to miss, including our popular HypeZone LIVE, Mixer merchandise, a live DJ, and more you’ll have to see to believe.

In addition, every visitor will walk away with some awesome swag, and even a chance at winning a brand-new game console! We’ll also have the Mixer @ E3 LIVE show happening live from both the Microsoft Theater and the Mixer Dome at LA Live throughout the whole week of E3. We’ll be sharing more details on the Mixer @ E3 LIVE show and the rest of our E3 content as we get closer to the week of E3, so keep an eye out for our full schedule.

Last year at Ignite, we announced Office 2019 – the next perpetual version of Office that includes apps (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and Skype for Business) and servers (including Exchange, SharePoint, and Skype for Business). Today we’re pleased to share the following updates:
