    Intel microcode update

    The microcode updates in question are developed by Intel, not Microsoft. Microsoft is just the delivery boy. Don't shoot the messenger. It's Intel that hasn't provided the update that you're looking for.

    g3258 deathloop

    Intel does not support overclocking the g3258 with certain boards/chipsets. Some mobo manufacturers (or at least Asus) exploited a bug in the Intel microcode to get around it. Intel replied with updated microcode which was implemented in KB3064209 and
    restored the g3258 to design-intent condition.
