Windows 10: Intel network adapter Windows Update

On WIndows 10 Prof 2004 19041.508.

There was a driver update for my Intel 1211 Gigabit card titled "Intel Net 12.18.11.1." I installed it and started having big problems with the connection speed tanking and not being able to get to web sites. Initially I thought there was a problem with Chrome since the taskbar hung on "connected to secure connection." I finally switched to the wireless device and disabled the ethernet one and that worked fine. I uninstalled the ethernet connection and drivers and rebooted. The ethernet icon reappeared but now now no internet connectivity. After a while the wireless connection became an option and I again connected fine to the internet using the wireless connection. I have the Intel Driver & Support Assistant" loaded and tried to use it to update the ethernet driver but it said everything was fine. I finally went to the Intel site and downloaded ProWinx64 and reinstalled the driver. That finally resolved the problem.


There is something wrong with the driver that loaded from Windows Update. It shows the correct updated driver version with the Intel Driver & Support Assistant but actually does not work.

Method 2: Download and install the latest firmware updates for the Network adapter

Follow these steps to un-install the drivers:

• On the search bar type “ Device Manager”
• On the left pane locate “Network Adapter” and expand by clicking on it
• Right on the “ Network driver” option and click “Uninstall’
• Download the latest Wireless network adapter driver setup file from the manufacturer’s website and install it.

To resolve this issue, we suggest that you run the Network troubleshooter when you switch from WiFi to Ethernet connection. The Network troubleshooter can help diagnose and fix common connection problems including clearing the network cache to obtain a new
IP from the new network. Kindly follow the steps below:

• In the search box on the taskbar, type Identify and repair network problems, and then select
  Identify and repair network problems from the list of results.
• Follow the steps in the troubleshooter and see if that fixes the problem.

Run the Network troubleshooter followed by networking commands, and Use network reset to reinstall network devices sections.

After the update my network adapters not working.
