    Intel Security Issue Update: Progress Continues on Firmware Updates


    I have BIOS/UEFI fixes in for 2 separate Sandy Bridge (7 year old) laptops and a newer Haswell server from Lenovo. They also committed to providing updates for an older Wolfdale system soon.

    Gigabyte is disappointing me with a Haswell MB. No word, no feedback - nada.

    I have had two bios updates for my Haswell-E Gigabyte mobo, the last one on March 13th.

    Not sure about the 404 I haven't tried
    I did update to bios 3801 for my x99 sabertooth still no fix issued not sure what asus's issue is but best not to rush I'm in no hurry *Smile

    I hope they keep that commitment on the Wolfdale processors. I have a Wolfdale PC from 2008, and it has proven completely fine for modern-day web browsing and the like since I swapped in an SSD several years ago. I'm guessing Intel decided to work with MS to update any CPU that's supported by the current Windows 10 release.

    Still nothing for z170 pro gamer from ASUS but I have the kB for the microcode update from MS installed so I guess that’s good enough. Saves the risk of ASUS cludging the system with a botched BIOS update I suppose

    Yeah i did install the Microcode update from MS as well, as no idea when Asus will update the bios part, maybe after Spring Creators release, but who knows for sure

    If you already have the microcode update from Microsoft, you don't need a BIOS update unless you want the BIOS to load the microcode instead of Windows.

    Well i'd prefer the bios load it instead of Windows, as gonna have to reapply the patch each major update, planning on clean install when Spring Creators comes out. Just don't know when Asus releasing the updated bios, so went with the Microcode patch from MS For the moment
