Internal 2.5 inch SATA Solid State Hard Drives - appreciate some help & guidance

    Hi

I'm thinking of swapping the 2.5 inch SATA HD that holds Windows 7,
on my nine year old ASUS N73SV notebook, that has two hard drive bays,
for a 2.5 inch SATA SSD
This SATA SSD would be for Windows 10 and backups.
The other bay HAS TO BE: WD 500GB Black - for storage.
    Why 500GB ?
Because I wanted the Storage/Backup hard drive TO BE AT LEAST 2TB - but thatisn't possible anymore, because if you want to play safe you can ONLY USE Western Digital drives that are 500 GB and less because these drives are using
PMR, also known as conventional magnetic recording (CMR), that works by aligning
the poles of the magnetic elements, which represent bits of data, perpendicularly to
the surface of the disk. Magnetic tracks are written side-by-side, without overlapping.
    (copied that from elsewhere!)
AND NOT SMR (shingled magnetic recording) that are really bad news.
I got caught out this year, when around January I brought two Blue and two Black - ALL 2TB

Just a few Questions - so I don't cock up!
    1)..... Do I have to prepare a 2.5" SATA SSD to use as a Boot Drive/Win 10?
    2) . Can you partition a SATA SSD?
.. . If not, does Computer Management play a role in any way?
    3) .. Is the File System still NTFS?
    4) . I've also read that when the SSD starts to fill up, they become really slow - is this what happens?
Also that when you delete anything it doesn't free up any space, until a certain amount is free 'per sector'

    Is that correct?

    5) Could you confirm that I would need at least 32 GB
    to install Windows 10 Pro?

    6) I suppose these SSDs are similar to an Android phone,
and that they give no warning before a problem.
At times, I've found files & folders a tad flaky, and once just disappearing.

    7) Finally, any recommendations for a decent 2.5" SATA SSD
to be used for Windows 10?

I HAVE TRIED A NUMBER OF TIMES TO TRY AND SET OUT THIS TEXT
BUT PREVIEW ALWAYS SHOWS IT ALL OVER THE PLACE - SO I HOPE
    ABOVE IS LEGIBLE.

    Many thanks in advance.
    Stephen

    :)

Upgrading to a solid state drive

I am considering upgrading to a Solid State Drive.

I have two basic questions that I hope someone can help me with.

    • I am running Windows 10 Professional. It was the free upgrade offered for Win 7 users. If I upgrade will I have any problems reinstalling/switching to the new SSD? Is there anything I should be aware of before upgrading?
    • I have upgraded hard drives many times over the years but this is my first Solid State upgrade. In the past I was always upgrading to a larger drive. Drive software always allowed me to clone to a larger drive. This time, I will be using a smaller SSD for
my operating system, 250 GB. My current Sata drive is 1 Tb. How do I proceed? If I simply install the smaller SSD, how do I get windows 10 on the drive? Do I install my original Windows 7 operating system and upgrade again? Will that work again? Or is there
a way to get the Win 10 license key and install Win 10 and use that key. If so, how do I get that key.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Moving windows from a hard drive to a solid state drive

i have windows 10 installed on my 1tb western digital blue hdd right now it. My computer came with windows 10 pre installed and id like to move it from the hard drive it originally came on to a solid state drive i bought recently but from what ive gathered
on apparently for some reason there is no way to just transfer all windows files from my hard drive to my solid state so that i am able to boot windows from my solid state. so from what ive gathered the best way to do this would be to reinstall windows and
choose my solid state as the download location. but i do not have a windows disk as my computer came with windows pre installed so i believe id have to use the windows media creation tool and either burn it to a disk or create a usb. but i do not have a product
key to activate windows after doing so because my windows is from the OEM so im wondering if i will have to activate my windows or will it automatically recognize that my computer has an OEM key attached to it. there is no sticker or card that came with the
computer so i assume the key is attached to my hardware someway or another. so if i use the media creation tool to create a usb for a clean windows 10 install to my solid state will i have to activate windows or will it be automatic and can i keep all my other
files on my hard drive with no problems? this is a very confusing just to get windows from one drive to another, i just want to be able to boot from my solid state, will i have to redownload programs if the are already on my hard drive? i plan to keep the
hard drive for storage and just put a few things including my OS onto the solid state, for reference my hard drive is a 1tb WD blue and my solid state is a crucial mx500 500gb my computer is an hp omen 870-224
