Windows 10: internet connection is no longer being seen after waking up from sleep mode

this is the second time this has happened to me:

if you set windows 10 to sleep mode, after waking it up it cannot find the internet connection and claims there are none available at all.

trying help menu is useless; only suggests plugging in an ethernet cable.

my perfectly functioning wifi [on my desktop] is obvious running since i am placing this post here now-

but on my laptop when it woke up from sleep mode- now cannot find its own internet adapter.


last time this happened it took days to self correct somehow all by itself despite numerous attempts to correct it.


because the problem is on a different machine, i cannot post anything from that machine to indicate its settings.

i did a system restore to yesterday's machine settings when it was running fine [it was in fact running just fine earlier today before it was set to sleep mode] but system restore did not resolve anything.


this is unacceptable from the OS to behave like this.

No internet when computer wakes from sleep mode

No Internet when computer wakes from sleep mode or from cold start until I disable the Local area connection and then enable it.

When I run the diagnostic after it fixes the connection it says this: Local Area connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration - Fixed

But its not fixed. Every time I wake my computer up from sleep mode after its been in sleep mode for a few hours I have to disable and then enable the Local area connection.

When the computer wakes up it has a yellow triangle warning of limited or no internet access. So I have to do the above every time I wake it up.

Things I've done so far: Update drivers, No fix.

Step 1: I suggest you to switch to wired connection (Connected the internet cable to your device), try to wake up the computer from sleep mode and check if the issue persists.

Step 2: As you are losing the internet connection after waking up from sleep mode, I suggest you to boot the computer to safe mode, try to wakeup the computer from sleep mode in Safe mode with networking and check if there is any issue with
internet connection.

No internet when computer wakes from sleep mode

well I put the system in sleep mode for 20 minutes then woke it up and the Internet is fine.

However I have only experienced the connection issues when the system has been asleep for long periods of time.

I cant do that right now as I have stuff to do but I will wake it up tomorrow morning when I wake up for work.
