Windows 10: Internet connects but can’t browse

i have recently changed from a TalkTalk router to a Sky router (I’m in the uk) and the problems started from there. However, my ipad/phone and tv connect successfully to the internet as well as my wife’s windows 7 laptop. My pc and work pc will not connect using any browser and one drive doesnt connect.


Wierdly, the browsers work for about 1-2 mins, but any new browser page stops working whilst the initial/first browser page continues to work. Once the browser is completely closed done it nevers works again until a router reboot and the process repeats itself.


It could just be a Windows 10 issue or something with the router settings but have tried changing every variable here without making any difference and whilst my other devices continue to work, im not convinced its the change of router. Ive also tried all the advice on the web re command prompt scripts, resetting this and that, etc, but to no avail.


I have also made no changes to security settings or anything similar and both windows laptops had been working perfectly for the last 9-18 months. Im not an expert but feels like a firewall or something blocking web browsing only. Outlook can send and receive email.


Im totally at a loss now....can anyone help???

well, hopefully you don't run into further problems with your internet down the road. I used to work as tech support for at&t and the 1st thing we check when there's no internet connection but can ping a website is always the proxy server *Smile

basically troubleshooting steps are - check if network adapter is enabled > check if able to ping > and if no, then check proxy settings, hehehe...

i tend to forget proxy settings, but i always remember to check IP address and DNS settings.
