    Internet Explorer 11 and Edge seems to run all the time since install of v2004


    I use CCleaner to clean my system on a regular basis. Since I installed v2004, CCleaner tells me I have to close IE to delete the cookies. When I go into task manager, I see no indication that IE or Edge are running and therefore those files are skipped. Is this the way v2004 is supposed to be, or can I stop IE and Edge from running in the background?

    Step 1: Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Internet Explorer. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is
    with your Explorer.

    Refer these steps:


    • Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.

    • Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.

    • Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.

    • Run the Internet Explorer performance troubleshooter.

    Step 2: I suggest you to reset the Internet Explorer and check if it helps.

    Step 3: Clear caches and cookies


    • Open Microsoft EDGE.

    • After that click on (…) “More action” option which is visible at top right side of the browser and you will see “Settings” option.

    • Under “Settings” scroll down and you will see a button “Choose what to clear” under “Clear browsing data” option.

    • Once you click on this option you will see list of feature, Select Cached data and file.

    • Here you need to check the option you want to clear and click “Clear” button.

    Reinstalling Internet Explorer 11

    • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and features.
    • Go to Windows Features and disable Internet Explorer 11.
    • Then click on Display installed updates.
    • Search for Internet explorer.
    • Right-click on Internet Explorer 11 > Uninstall.
    Restart computer

    I'm obviously having trouble running without it but I'm running Chrome and it operates fine, Edge does not work. IE is gone as far as I can tell, no searches shows it to be installed.
