1. Internet Explorer 11 Is Storing Online Banking Usernames And Passwords Even Though You Tell...

I recently had two unauthorized access attempts to my online bank account which prompted my bank to suspend my account. I stripped out all add-ons and anything else suspicious in IE11 and Firefox even though I don't store any banking information on my computer other than a link to the website.

A recent issue with Firefox prompted a refresh of that browser and I also cleaned out all usernames and passwords.

After rebuilding the browser I imported usernames and passwords from IE11.

There in the list are all of the usernames and passwords which I have used for my banking since the dawn of mankind.

I imported from Edge and, of course, they showed up in there, also (they both used Windows Credentials).

I checked in Windows Credentials but there were no usernames or passwords associated with my banking.

    Where are they being stored?

Why are they being stored anyway?

    :)

  2. Internet Explorer 11 not saving passwords

    Dear All,

I have a laptop that runs Windows 10 Enterprise and I use Internet Explorer 11 as my web browser. I have just been issued with the laptop and so have a fresh install on Windows 10. When I go to websites that ask me to enter username and password Internet
Explorer 11 is not prompting me to save the username / password.

I have verified that the "Use Autocomplete for: Usernames and Passwords check box is ticked but when I click on "Manage Passwords" I can see that there are no entries in the Web Credential manager. I have already reset my Internet Explorer settings to their
default values but this has not helped

Any advice / suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Internet Explorer 11: How to save usernames in forms but never save passwords (and never show the notification)

When I connect on websites using Internet Explorer 11, it proposes me to save the entered password. I don't want to save passwords, because my passwords are managed in an external application, and I don't want my credentials to be stored in the Windows Web Credentials store. So each time I connect I have to click on the "Not for this site" button.

I know that I can disable the password saving in Internet Explorer, if I uncheck this option:
Internet Options > Contents > AutoComplete > Click on [Settings] >
Uncheck "User names and passwords on forms"

But if I do so, my usernames are no more stored in forms (No AutoComplete). This worries me because this is a very useful feature which allows me to quickly authenticate on the login forms.

    So here is my question:
How can we still store the usernames in forms and having Internet Explorer never display the annoying notification "Would you like to store your password for ..."?

For reference, here is the Microsoft documentation on how to configure passwords saving in web forms (but it does not provide any solution to my issue):
4. Internet Explorer 11 Is Storing Online Banking Usernames And Passwords Even Though You Tell...

Internet Explorer 11 has saved an old (no longer accurate) password. Any ideas on how to change a saved password?

    Hello,

To change the saved password for a website on Internet Explorer, please try these steps:

    • Type the first letter of your user name, auto-complete will bring up a box of choices.
    • Highlight the username you want to delete. Hit the "delete" key.
    • Another auto complete window will pop up saying, "Windows has a stored password for this user name. Do you want to delete the username and password?"
    • Click, "yes".
    • Close Internet Explorer and reopen.
    • Type your user name and password in the website.
    • When you proceed with signing in you will get a popup "Do you want to save this password?"
    • Click Yes, for that popup.

Refer to the article for additional information.
