At this point I think a reinstall is my best bet...I have the TechBench iso and will go
forward with that...one thing I found peculiar, when I tried to watch any video at you tube
it wouldn't crash, however, when I chose one from my playlist, auto crash

Thanks again Cliff.....time to reinstall my friend

Try a Repair install first, if that doesn't work, then go ahead with a Re-install. Just mount your ISO in file explorer, and click setup.exe and select search for updates, and make sure to select to keep settings, files and apps.

Repair and clean install will not help you whatsoever. Anniversary update hosed IE good. FACT!

  6. I tried everything I could think of. Followed this Forum and tried a few other things too, but in the end I ditched IE in favour of Chrome. Chrome is so good, and the experience so much better, that I won't return to IE even if it can be fixed...which I strongly doubt.

I no longer get Script Errors, and Chrome doesn't "stop working"...

Make the switch. Hard at first because you're use to IE, but after 1 day, you'll be a convert.

    Good Luck

    Hello!

Sorry to resurrect an older topic but a co-worker has been having issues with infrequent IE crashes. I tried a few solutions including resetting the IE settings (which fixed another issue she was having but not the main crashing issue) but nothing has worked thus far.

Here is a crash log from when she first brought the issue to my attention:

I see she is still on Windows 10 Build 10240(see bold in quote)

Tell her to update the PPC finally to the Anniversary Update (currently Build 14393.82)

Here is my MSHTML.dll(Microsoft HTML .dynamic link library)

    Internet Explorer Crashing [IMG]

As you can see the .dll also has the Windows build number as it's version number.

    Holy Holly you're right!
She's still running on the earlier build... I'll be upgrading her to the Anniversary Update after her shift, and I'll keep you posted on whether or not that fixes things.

    Thanks!

  13. Internet Explorer Crashing

Cliff S, I seem to have the same problem as jrobert above. The only difference is my IE version 11.0.14393.0 and the mshtml.dll version is 11.0.14393.82

Let me explain how I think this happened, or at least what caused it:

When I bought my machine from Best Buy a year ago, It came with Window 10 Version 1511 Build 10586.494. The only browser I had was IE 11 and I was running IE 11 at the time, when the anniversary update started downloading and installing I ended up with all kinds of problems after this. First off it was taken so long with no way to stop it, because it was on a black screen with little dots going around at the bottom of screen, every once in a while my light would light up like it was busy, but then it would stop. This went on for an hour or so, so I finally just went to bed, and let the machine do what it needed to do. The next morning it was still stuck on this same screen which was about 5 hours later, with no way out of it, and the active light was not doing nothing. So I reached up and shut off the power button to shut it down. When it restarted I ended back up on the same screen with no way out, no matter what I did, so unfortunately I had to shut it down again with the power button. I ended up repeating this about 6 more times before it ever started up with windows. ( Really thought I would have to completely set it up, but I didn't.) The info for my computer now told me I was running windows 10, version 1607, Build 14393.51. I did lose several of my programs that I had on here like CCleaner, Kaspersky Internet Security 16 xxx, Family Tree Maker, Legacy Family Tree Maker, and Microsoft Office 2010.

Well to make a long story short, I reinstalled my Internet Security, Office 2010, and CCleaner. and decided to shut my machine down and restart it again....and guess what I got that same black screen again with the spinning dots, but this time it changed and went to a black screen with the words: Checking Media Presence - Media Present - Start PXE over IPV4 , then it went to the same screen but after Media Present - Start PXE over IPV6, after a while Error - No operating System found. - So AGAIN I shut it down manually and left it off for a few moments and then turned it back on....kept coming into same screen and repeating - I had to shut it down 3 or 4 more times to finally get it to come back into windows. Windows was still windows 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.51 and again I had no CCleaner, No Kaspersky Internet Security, No Office, and no Family Tree makers.

By this time I was fed up and decided to try and restore back to old version, low and behold - I had no way to do that (Thought I was suppose to have that option) - I had no way to go back to a restore date, because there wasn't any...and I knew there should have been at least one because I had manually saved a restore point the day before. I had no earthly idea what to do, all I knew was I was not going to turn it off again, so I decided to look to see what my options was under troubleshooting and all I had was to ReSet the windows option, or something like that. So I did that, and after it got through, without any problems I decided to a sf/scandisk and have it to fix what ever it needed to. It came up and did fix several things, can't really tell you what all, don't know how to find it again. Anyway after that I didn't seem to have any more problems for a couple of days, I had even gone back and reinstalled all my other programs that I had after searching out for uninstall programs for them first, and ran them before I did installed them again.

Then the next day I had more windows updates to come through with another windows 10 update along with all the office ones. Anyway I went ahead and let it do what it needed to do, and everything seemed to be fine for about another day or so. Anyway I went ahead and made IE 11 my default browser. Now it has been one day and it seems to crash when I try to do searches on Google. I do not have the toolbar, I just put a link in my favorites bar. Sometimes it will be fine, other times it crashes.

Still have problems with computer not wanting to start up in windows about every other day...not sure why.

I would appreciate any of the help you can give me in any of this. I do not have any kind of restore disk for this machine as it did not come with any. Not sure how to get one either, and now I really don't know what I need in order to do any of the recommended things that you recommend.

I put everything I knew about my machine in my profile when I signed up here. Since I am having multiple issues, not just IE 11, not sure which way to go. If this should be in a different part of this forum, please move if you can.

This is all starting to make me feel *Sick

  14. Ouch, too many issues.
I assume Windows 10 is operating ok and updating as it should. IE11 does not work well in windows 10. I've tried everything, and still it crashes. I suggest you move to Google Chrome. Seamless and a great experience.

If you insist on trying IE11, then:
    1. Disable Google Toolbar if you're running it, and
    2. Open IE11 by right click RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.

I've used IE11 today as Administrator, and no crashes yet. Fingers crossed. Hopeful but ready for the disappointment to follow.

I also set IE11 to Run as Administrator by default. To do that follow the instructions on the link below.

Always run a program in administrator mode in Windows 10 - CNET

    Good luck
    Ditch IE11....

  15. Toronto Cat thank you for trying to help, but unfortunately trying to run IE11 as administrator did not work for me. I really think it has something to do with the version of dll that it runs with the version it is. I almost believe that more of my files might be corrupted with the same problem. I just don't think the anniversary update loaded all the way like it should have.

Thanks again, and I have no toolbars installed. I run the google search off of their page at google.com.
