Sorry RUN AS ADMIN didn't work for you. If you need to reinstall Windows 10 Anniversary, the link below contains the download for the ISO files that can be mounted to your system for a re-install.

Official Windows 10 Anniversary Update ISO files now available to download | Windows Central

You can copy to your HD or a Memory Stick to reinstall. If not sure how to Mount to your system, Google it or contact Microsoft using "Contact Support" from your Start Menu.

Another thought on IE11 crashing. If you're using Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit (MBAE), that might be causing a problem also. I "Stopped Protection" and it helped, but since I prefer to keep the protection, disabled parts until I found what might be the cause. I have disabled DEP Enforcement rom that software. If you are using MBAE and need help, write back.

    Good Luck

  2. Thanks again Toronto Cat. I followed the link and let it save on my computer. Tried Burning a DVD but for some reason my burner doesn't seem to be working. Tried 3 different Blank disk. Found out I have quite a few of Generic drivers for different things, so guess it messed those up also. So guess I better try and update all of those, then I will try again.

Not using Malwarebytes, or any other kind of programs like that. I run Kaspersky Internet Security, and have been on their forum also to see if anyone is having problems like mine.

Appreciate all the help you have offered, now off to try and find my Video Controller that I am suppose to have instead of the Generic one that Microsoft installed. Noticed there is quite a few of Generic ones.... Seems if it isn't one thing it is another.

So frustrated by all of this....I wish Microsoft would just leave my computer alone....If it is working...Don't fix.

    Bless you,

  3. You don't need to burn it, unless you want to keep it to restore later. You just need to Mount it. I think if you right click, and choose Mount...but I'm not sure. Best to Google it.

For Drivers, open Device Manager in Control Panel. Then right click on the very first item on top, which is likely your computer;s name. Choose "Scan for Hardware Changes". Should be all you need.

Okay, I ran the Anniversary upgrade for her, but it hasn't fixed the issue with MSHTML.dll, it still caused two IE crashes today alone...

Have you tried turning off all add-ons?
Does it crash on a particular site?
I had problems in Edge using ABP, when trying to go to Softpedia news, because it would freeze on that page I had to go to ABP and manually white list it, all my bookmarked sites are whitelisted, but because of the freezing, couldn't do it using the icon at Softpedia.
Also have you tried running the script in my first post?

Open an admin command prompt and run(copy & paste(middle click)) it in:
    fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\&fsutil usn deletejournal /d /n c:&Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup&&sfc /scannow&Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth&sfc /scannow&Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase&pause

If it finds anything, reboot and run it again.

  7. Cliff I do like the idea of a repair install....what I am wondering though it says it has to be the exact kind of windows on the ISO file. The file I downloaded was from the site that Toronto Cat linked: http://www.windowscentral.com/window...-iso-available

It gave me several options of windows 10 to download, either 64 or 32 bit. I downloaded " win 10_1607English_x64.iso " . I put it in my documents folder. What I am wondering is the OS build in my machine now is 14393.105 which was put in by a cumulative update for Win 10 version 1607 on Aug 31.

Am I going to be able to use that iso file with that version of windows. I have no idea what build that iso file is?

Also one other thing I went to the Device Manager in my computer and right clicked on the top one & scanned for hardware changes, but it didn't give me anything different that what was already on the screen. I have no exclamation marks on anything and they all seem to say they are are working fine. Don't seem to be having any problems with them at least not right now. ( No changes probably because I had gave up before and tried resetting the machine under settings)

My IE 11 is still doing the same thing when I go to Google search page and try and search anything with numbers in it, Like a phone number lookup. I did go ahead and try all of your suggestions, and since the new windows update, I now have IE version 11.0.14393.0 and the mshtml.dll version is 14393.105 . Not sure how to get the IE version up to match the dll version, tried everything you have said it this thread, and it doesn't seem to change. That is everything except the CCleaner....I used to use that program all the time but since the update to the Anniversary Program, my machine will no longer leave it in here, as soon as I get it in and have to shut down, then when I restart it is no longer on my machine. It's gone. Not sure how to correct that either.

Guess it could be worse, so I have to be thankful that I can at least get into windows (most times), and I am able to get up the next day and start having to fight this computer one more time. About the time I get it half way straightened out there is more updates that seem to screw things up again.

If you can tell me if that iso file is ok to try and do a repair install I will do that. I don't even care if it saves my files, as I have token just about everything off of here except for my office 2010 program and Kaspersky Internet Security 16

It looks right, but I only get my ISOs direct from Microsoft: Windows 10 ISO

best is here: Windows 10 because the MCT will automatically download the correct version you need.

  9. You have checked your Drivers correctly, and it does only take a second. If you are not getting exclamations, then all is ok with your Drivers.

To find the Windows 10 build and Bit you have, go to SETTINGS...SYSTEM...ABOUT. It will tell you everything. I agree with chris that it's probably better to use Microsoft site to obtain ISO. You need to know HOME OR PRO, and 64 or 32 bit. Other than that it might also give you Build options (not sure on the options).

And I still recommend you ditch IE11 in favour of Google Chrome. You'll never look back, and wondered why you didn't switch before.

  10. Cliff the Link in :The best is here: is in a different language, that I cannot understand. So guess I need to go to the Link above that at Microsoft Windows 10 ISO. and download from there. Will they give me the correct one - right?

PS: In fact that Microsoft Windows 10 ISO is the same site that the link I used sent me too because I could not use the Media thing. So Apparently it should be ok.... Right

  11. Thanks Toronto Cat I'm glad to here that I checked the drivers right, and you and that Google Chrome *Smile I might have to one of these days but I have always loved IE and I know my way around with it, so I will keep trying for now. I don't give up easily... *chuckle

  12. You're welcome.

You should switch. Chrome is so easy to learn.

But if you still want to try IE11 (like my wife) then set it to Run as Administrator using the attached instructions and see if that helps. It helped us, but I'm not convinced that staying with IE is worth the aggravation...

Always run a program in administrator mode in Windows 10 - CNET

    Good luck....

    Internet Explorer Crashing

Sorry about that. I'm an American living in Germany, and Damn Microsoft always defaults to my ISP and not my system language when I go to them. I forgot I'm using the translate app, so I didn't notice it wasn't in English so I sent you to the German site.

Here is the correct US English one: Windows 10

  14. *Confused Cliff when I click on the Link and downloads it wants to install or save: win10_upgrade_9252exe

Isn't that the anniversary update that started all these problems in the first place or am I wrong. Search on Google tells me that is the anniversary update....which according to my machine (see pic below) I have an upgraded version from that.

Do I just trust them and try and run that as a repair option?
