IOGEAR GUCE64 - not wanting to work

Hello. I recently upgraded from Windows 7 (RIP, it was a good decade) to Windows 10 via clean install and all has been going fairly well so far. Until I decided to set up a new project. I wanted to set up a remote control station for the PC in another part of my house. I managed to split my HDMI and send it over Cat6 downstairs no problem. I also got a IOGEAR GUCE64 4-port USB over Cat6 extender (powered). In theory, it should have been plug-and-play. But that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Windows 10 is giving me an error, "Unknown USB Device - Device Descriptor Request Failed" when I try to find the extender/hub in Device Manager. IOGEAR doesn't have drivers available on their website and I have an email out to them with no response. I was wondering if any of the kind folks here might be able to help me figure this out?

A bit more info: the reason for the USB extender is simply for a mouse and keyboard. I've tried three different keyboards on it, wired and wireless, and none are working on the extender (but are working if plugged directly into the PC). The USB extender has its own dedicated Cat6 line, and that line has been tested working properly.

    :)

IOGEAR GFR309 not recognized by Windows 10

I have an IOGEAR GFR309 USB card reader. It works perfectly well with my Windows 8.1 pro laptop, but it is not recognized by Windows 10 on a different laptop (Windows 10 home) and on a Toshiba AllInOne (which I guess is a glorified laptop) Windows 10 pro.

The USB device information in device manager indicate the device is operating. It is not recognized by file Explorer. When I plug it in, I hear the MS sound of a new device being attached. The USB driver shows it is the most up to date.

I contacted IOGEAR, but they were not helpful at all. Why? Because on their Windows 10 computer, the device works. BUT I have two Windows 10 devices on which it doesn't work. IOGEAR actually offered to replace the card reader, even though they contended
it wasn't their problem. I took them up on their kind offer, and the one I received didn't work on my Windows 10 computers, but worked on the Windows 8.1 computer.

I don't want to upgrade my laptop to Windows 10, because, I will then be unable to use the card reader (I use the reader to read a Sony memory stick that works with my old camera).

    Anyone have any suggestions? thanks!!

  3. Windows 10 infinite restart black screen

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.
