It seems IoGetDeviceProperty does not return DevicePropertyFriendlyName for removable USB storage devices on Windows 10 Pro x64 2004 19041.329.

The rest of the details like vendor name, serial number, model etc. are available. I tried various models sandisk, verbatim, jetflash ...

Is this a known problem? Does it have a fix?

    Thanks

Yeah, it looks like ALL of the variables names (numeric, string, lists, etc.) are predefined and you can't just make them up on your own.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

How to get the friendly name from ms-settings URI in Windows 10

In Windows 10, you can see the Setting items when you open System Settings.
I want to get the friendly name from a specified URI.
    For example:
Get "Battery Saver" from the URI "ms-settings:batterysaver-settings"
Get "Diagnostics & feedback" from "ms-settingsIoGetDeviceProperty on Windows 10 2004 19041.329 returns empty string as friendly name for... :privacy-feedback"
Get "Sync your settings" from "ms-settings:sync"
