Windows 10: IP Address Location Incorrect

Hi there,


I've been having some trouble with connecting to internet due to incorrect IP address location. My laptop is on a Windows 10.


1. I tried browsing but connecting to a website took a fairly long time and it lead me to an another country's version of that website.

2. I tried to look up my IP address and it showed that it was somehow in Czech Republic even though I am currently in Indonesia.

3. Accessing google.com also lead me to a Czech version of the website.

4. What I have noticed is that when I tried to disconnect from my Wi-Fi and tether from my phone instead, I was able to browse normally and my IP address is back to Indonesia.

5. This had me think if the problem was sourced from the router. However, none of my other devices connected to this Wi-Fi has this problem.

6. Weird thing is, if my phone is connected to the Wi-Fi and I set my laptop to tether from my phone, it's working fine as well. So it's having this problem only if it connects directly to the Wi-Fi.


Some of the measures I have tried:

1. Ran malware scan and found 0 issues.

2. Rebooted router, issue still persists.

3. I even tried resetting my laptop with the option of keeping all my files, but issue remains.


Also, I had an update on my Windows 10 a couple days ago. The next time I tried to browse the internet, this happened. I'm not sure if the update was a factor into this, but thought you should know about this as well.

Location setting

Hi,



This issue could occur due to incorrect location settings or it would depend on your IP address. We suggest you to check the location settings of your PC, and check if it helps. Here are the steps:

• Click the Start button, and select Settings.
• Go to Privacy, and choose Location.
• Make sure that the Location service is On.

If issue persists, then it has something to do with your IP address. It’s because the location detected depends on the location set on your IP address.

This issue could have occurred due incorrect TCP\IP Address settings.



Try the steps listed here:



Method 1:

I suggest you to reset TCP\IP and check if it helps.

Method 2:

If the issue persists, I suggest you to try these steps to Flush DNS and request a new IP address from your ISP server. Check if it helps.

• 
  Click on
  Start and type cmd on start search.
  
• 
  Right-click on command prompt Run
  and selectas administrator.
  
• 
  At the command prompt, type the following commands and hit
  Enter after each command.
  

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /registerdns

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

exit

Finding IP address

Hello,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below to find printer’s IP address:

1. Type Devices and Printers in the Windows search bar.
   
2. Select on the printer and click on
   Manage.
   
3. Click on the Ports tab.
   You will be able to find printer’s IP address under the ‘Ports’ tab.
   

Few printers also have a “Test print” option on the printer. When you print a test page from network printer, the page shows the IP address along with other details.

Note: If it is set on DHCP mode the IP address will constantly change.
The IP address is assigned automatically by your router using a protocol called DHCP.
