Windows 10: iPhone in USB port coming up as "unspecified" in Devices and Printers settings.

Whenever I plug my phone into my laptop, I can access it just fine, but iTunes doesn't recognize it. I have tried apple support and they were clueless. I searched around a little and found that my phone is being recognized as unspecified instead of as a device. Also, whenever I go to Device manager my phone is under "Universal Sub Devices" instead of "Universal Sub Controllers". Not sure if that is significant but my phone id the only one the pops up under that tab. I am on the latest version of Windows 10.

iPhone shown as Unspecified in Devices and Printers


I have a problem with my iPhone 5s/iOS 9.2.1 in Windows 10 Pro x64 Build 10586.71, as shown in the pictures:

Although everything works OK, i.e.
• iTunes v.12.3.2.35 recognizes it, backs it up and syncs it
• I can see its content from Windows Explorer
• and in Device Manager has the latest drivers for both Apple iPhone & Apple Mobile Device USB Driver

the iPhone is shown in “Devices and Printers” under Unspecified Devices.







Is there any way to fix that?

Any suggestion is welcomed... except from in-place-upgrade - that goes to my dear friend Shawn Brink, he knows why!

USB PRINTER As Unspecified device,

Same problem here and also with an Epson deskjet connect via USB. What is funny is that I never noticed this because the wifi version the printer was showing up! The printer works perfectly, on device manager it is listed as a printer, on programs it appears
as a print device but on the Win10 printers menu is not listed at all and via control panel it is unspecified.

Hello ---

I have sort of the same problem --- I just installed a usb (epson) printer and I don't see it in the "printer scanner list" --- it seems to be hiding in the "unspecified" device list

it seems to work --- I can scan from it and print to it --- the printer name is in the printer list in apps link word and notepad --- the only issue is that there is no icon in the "printer scanner" list for it --- is there some registry to fix thix?
