What I understand is that ram stick 2 is still faulty.

  2. Yeah that's what it seems like, I just thought that would be unlikely since this is the new stuff. That means corsair has sent me two faulty packs of ram :/.

There are quite a lot of people who think that new stuff can't be faulty which is why they don't test them *Sad

I would almost suggest to ask Corsair that they test their memory before they send it.

Roger that, I guess I have more memtests ahead of me because it doesn't seem like I can trust corsair at this point...
ill leave the ticket open and let you guys know how the call goes.

No problem, let me know how it goes *Smile

  6. So a new exciting development. I took out what we assume to be the bad ram and replaced it with the good ram. after playing around for about 50 minutes. during a game the computer suddenly switched off, no blue screen, no loud staggered noise. afterwards it immediately attempted to restart and i could hear it clicking over with the power on button flashing. i decided at this point to switch it off at the back.
now it wont switch on at all, even the power button light doesnt turn on.
i am starting to feel very lost with this rig...

Are the modules in the system of the same make and model? If not you need to remove 1 of them.

    Sorry, what are the modules?

The memory sticks a.k.a. (memory) modules *Wink

  10. There was only a single stick placed inside which i believed to be the good stick. In response to the same make and model im not entirley sure what you mean by that either.

Each memory stick has a make (manufacturer) and model (part number), with the model you can easier check the specs and see if it is compatible with the rest of the system.
The make and model should be present on the stick
    Attachment 63325

For example, my memory make and model (data is from a dump that was created from a bluescreen that I got several months ago)
    Code: Manufacturer Hynix/Hyundai Part Number HMT351S6CFR8C-PB [/quote]

  12. Yeah they are compatible with the system. I got a mechanic round and he strongly believes that it is the PS3 that is the issue. Whether or not it is the PS3 that caused the issue with the ram is at question. It it is definitely causing the power fault atm.

I didn't meant the compatibility, but it doesn't matter you already answered the question *Smile

Disconnect the PS3 and check it out (don't know if it is that simple?)

  14. Hello again, I know its been a while. So i cant remember exactly where I left off but after the computer failing to start for an extensive amount of time and getting the motherboard repaired and the CPU... it finally works again.

Although, be it not as it shouldm as far as i can tell.

Im using CPU ID/Z and it shows the DRAM frequency at 1223.8 MHz when I know for a fact the my RAM is 3200 dual channel so should it not be running at close to 1600? im pretty sure we covered this before.
I tried changing this in the BIOS and it requires me to turn off the computer after a failed boot and then says something to the effect of overclocking failed please change in BIOS.

Im at a bit of a loss of how to change the RAM frequency if my computer doesnt allow it. any insight would be greatly appreciated!

    I hope your all well!

Due to my laptop being a Dell laptop I have very limited options in the BIOS so I have no idea what possibilities there are in your BIOS.

Before I can suggest anything, I would need to know what the possibilities are in your BIOS. Please make a screenshot/photo's of the possibilities in your BIOS regarding this.
