Actually, it's much EASIER to add search engines. In fact, in the old days, you had to wait for Microsoft to add a link to add a search engine, now any search engine can add themselves *INSTANTLY*, just by adding the right headers to their website. That's what opensearch is all about. Google recently added their headers so it became available in Edge, for instance, without any input from Microsoft.

I'm not sure what you mean about bookmarks. I can add any site I want to the bookmarks. Just click the Star at the top. No browser that i'm aware of ships with any built-in ad blocking.. Extensions will be coming very soon, probably in the first post-RTM update.

I get the same thing as WightWalker, at least in the IE11 in 10240. What's worse, the menu doesn't open at all most of the time.

It is, however, possible to get to the other menu, you just have to flick the mouse really fast.

I should have also mentioned that IE11 does the same in Windows 7 Pro 64bit

    My 0.02c:
    - Edge is lightning fast, clean and responsive (I LOVE THIS)
    - BUT, yes as it's early in it's life, it still lacks some fairly core things like extensions/add-ons and is also still VERY buggy. It crashes on me completely fairly regularly. But I still like to try to go back to using it, because I can see the potential.

But it needs a lot of work to permanently get me to change. I have to go back to Chrome at the moment just for reliability.

  6. I'm one of the (probably) very few folks on this forum that would agree with you! I'm not a fan of the "metro" interface, so it will come as no surprise when I say my view of Edge is MS pushing their new "metro" version of IE on us.

If it was a "full" version of IE, simple redesigned to use the "metro" look and feel, then I would probably like it more -- but, as you have pointed out, it's not a full version.

So, it's disappointing that the default Browser for Win10 is less capable than IE.

close edge down, reboot your pc, open edge..
    Where are you?

the same webpage you where when you left

They won't be getting any telemetry from me. I changed the start page in Edge and now it crashes before it does more than open the window. Epic failure.

Ok, so Edge is early in its development. So what? I want something that works now -- and in the way I want it to work. I agree with people who are saying that Edge seems like some kind of (not-too-great) mobile browser. Surely I'm not the only one who still uses my desktop with a keyboard and mouse?

I'm staying with IE11 for now, too. The only problem I'm having is when I click on a hyperlink in an Outlook 2010 email message: the annoying window "How do you want to open . . ." pops up, even though IE11 is my default browser. (If you set a different default browser -- like FireFox -- everything works fine. The problem is just with the Outlook 2010/IE11 combination.)

I would add a few things to the list of missing features.

Unable to sort favorites (I want the folders at the top, not the bottom.)
Can't add search engines (Yahoo and Twitter are the only ones that show as options. I want Google) EDIT: Something has changed because if you go to the Google search page, then it appears in the list of providers you can choose

I like Edge but just can't use it now because of the missing things. It is very fast but would be faster if ads could be blocked. Pages heavy in ads load slower than with IE and a tracking list.

  11. big reason for me sticking with IE is favourites sync (not sure if this is not implemented yet or I have an issue)

With IE I can use my laptop or tablet and the favourites would stay in sync and be in the same order on both my devices
with Edge I have no sync and have to set up favourites on each device

Presently, I use Edge for this forum and one other. For me it works just fine and it's extremely fast. I like what it can do and IMO the future of Edge looks very bright.

    YMMV
