Is it possible to allocate lower resources to windows update process?

    Hi,

In company we are looking for a possibility to deploy windows updates (as quiet as possible) from WSUS to workstations, which are at home and connected to our network via VPN.

Now computers are downloading updates when users are working and at night, computer is waked up and updates are installed. Problem is, that many users are disconnecting their computers from power so computers are not waked up.
We don't want to inform all employees (thousands) not to disconnect computers from power, every time when windows updates should be installed.

So to be able to install windows updates while users are working, I found that it is possible to set process priority to low, so that it is not using much computer resources and don't slow down computer.

Do someone know all the process names which are working while windows update installation?

Is it possible to set process priority via GPO?

Install updates without restart isn't possible. Is there a way to reduce restart time somehow for big updates?

Maybe You have other suggestions how to install windows updates on computers, while users are working on them?

    Thanks.

    :)

NVIDIA to Tune GTX 970 Resource Allocation with Driver Update

Yes, very good news. With any driver update there are performance gains of course. What Nvidia will do is every performance gain that will also affect GTX 970 to call it "better resource allocation". Placebo pills for the owners of the cards, but OK, good news, who am I to disagree with that?

Is it possible to allocate lower resources to windows update process?

    AMD FX OC'ers Club

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
