    Is it possible to change the email address for my Microsoft Account to a new email address?


    My mother 83 years created an old Microsoft email address @live.com when she first started using the Microsoft IM. She has used it as the email address for her Microsoft account ever since it was required, but she never used it for personal email or read any email that was sent to it. My mother has used an @att.net email address for all her personal email. However, now she would like to drop her @att.net email address and switch to @outlook.com.Can she just create a new Microsoft Account with an @outlook.com email address and switch her PCs Desktop and Laptop to use that email address

    Hello Skumball, and welcome to Ten Forums. Is it possible to change the email address for my Microsoft Account to a new email address? :)

    If you like, you can change the primary alias for your Microsoft account to be the new email address.

    Afterwards, switch your account to a local account, then switch it back to a Microsoft account using the new email address. This will toggle your account to use the new address.

    It is more than likely that your email account was hacked, either by a virus sniffing your password, or just simply hacked.

    Either way, change your password on your email account. Unfortunately the damage by already be done. They already have your contact list and your email address associated with that contact list. There is nothing stopping them from sending out emails using their own SMTP servers to everyone on your contact list and claiming the emails are from your email address. They don't actually have to have access to your yahoo account or even any yahoo server to send emails to people that come from your address.

    1. My existing Microsoft account domain is ' bigpond.net.au' which my existing email address is part of. I wish to DELETE this shortly.

    2. My new email domain I am trying to add as an Alias is 'bigpond.com'

    3. Telstra in Australia are changing to a new email server called Telstra Mail.
