Windows 10: Is it possible to prevent the audio points from moving when trimming in Audacity?

I want to edit a song and replace some parts with the instrumental version. Since I found a good instrumental version that sounds better than removing the vocals I want to use it, but it's very annoying that I always have to move the track by hand when I delete a part. Is there a way to make it so that when I delete a part of the instrumental version the track doesn't move and the instrumental version stays in sync with the actual song?

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

 

I need help with Audacity seeing the right audio input

Try settings > system > sound and look for Sound Control Panel. This should open the old-style sound gizmo. Click recording and look for any mic stuff to enable/disable. You may have to R-click 'show disabled devices'.





There's also the complication of matching input and output impedances + signal level. Even if your suggested rig works, the phone output level might be too high for the sensitive mic input.

Have you selected the correct Audacity audio host - MME, DirectSound, Wasapi etc and device ?
