Windows 10: Is it safe to create a dual boot with Win_10 and Win_7 when seeing all partitions as simple...

Hello there, I'm Swaroop! I'm a web dev as well as a graphic designer. Some of my apps are malfunctioning on Win_10, so I thought of Win_7. But when I shrunk down some volume for Win_7, I noticed after formatting the unused space that, none of the partition is now a primary partition.





So what I want to confirm is that, is it still gonna be safe to install Win_7 on the drive I:. Because if it is harmful, I don't wanna do that and lose all/some of my data.

Please help me by answering this question...

CANNOT CREATE NEW PARTITION FROM C DRIVE

Your problem is that you already have 4 primary partitions. This is the maximum allowed under the MBR scheme. On the other hand you also have 2 Recovery partitions. Why?

I would do this to be on the safe side:

1. Use the free version of Macrium Reflect to create an image of your disk. Park it on an external disk.
2. Create a bootable Macrium rescue flash disk.
3. Delete the Recovery partition on the far right of your Disk Manager display.
4. Press Shift+Restart to check if you can still boot into Windows Repair Mode.
5. Create a new partition for your dual boot scheme.

In case something goes wrong, restore the image created in Step 1.

• Press Windows + R keys from the Keyboard.
• Type msconfig and hit Enter.
• Click on the Boot tab.
• Select the OS from the list and click on the Set as default.

Create a new partition for Dual Boot OS ?

Here's what I did:

1. Create new partition
2. Install Windows 7
3. ????
4. Profit!

Microsoft will automatically detect that you have 2 OS and will ask you everytime you try to boot on which one to boot. One of my partition is factory setting Windows Vista, the other one is Windows 7.
