Windows 10: Is Microsoft going to add support for 7th gen CPU?

Is Microsoft going to add support for 7th gen CPU? I have a 7th gen CPU and I am running windows 11 21h2 and Everything works fine I just want to know if my CPU will be supported.My CPU Specs: IntelR CoreTM i5-7400 CPU @ 3.00GHz Base speed: 3.00 GHz Sockets: 1 Cores: 4 Logical processors: 4 Virtualization: Enabled L1 cache: 256 KB L2 cache: 1.0 MB L3 cache: 6.0 MB

Intel 7th gen CPUs

Can anyone (from Microsoft itself) tell me why the 7th gen got excluded from the compatibility list, except of all things the HEDT chips of said generation, AND the CPU that runs Microsoft's own Surface laptop (the 7820)?

I'm furious.

 

Windows 11 Intel 7th gen CPU support

Thank you, I see my Cpu are not included on supported Cpu list, but Microsoft doesn't explain why. As you can see on picture above, this processor has VBS hardware support.

UPD: Never mind, I just found this article about 7th gen processors support, so maybe it will be supported in the future.

"Using the principles above, we are confident that devices running on Intel 8th generation processors and AMD Zen 2 as well as Qualcomm 7 and 8 Series will meet our principles around security and reliability and minimum system requirements for Windows 11. As we release to Windows Insiders and partner with our OEMs, we will test to identify devices running on Intel 7th generation and AMD Zen 1 that may meet our principles."

Windows 11 system requirements. i7-7700HQ CPU not on the list. Will it ever be added?

Hi ,

Many 7th gen intel CPUs are not support due to few security limitations and problems(spectre and meltdown vulnerabilities) , only 7th gen extreme edition CPUs and i7 7820HQ are supported as of now . Microsoft will most probably not add it into the compatibility list .
