Windows 10: Is my computer virused/hacked if...?

Pretty much title.

So to give out some context, I recently opened a file I scanned on virus total and 11 engines detected it. Although, I still ran it because hear me out, my friend ran it with no problems, and I also ran it with no problems before resetting my Windows. I'm not gonna tell what the file was, but I'm gonna tell that even the creator looked legit. It looked like it's completely safe. So that's why I'm mostly making this question.


Alright to not make this too long, I was watching Youtube while my computer just committed suicide and froze while making a buzzing noise. And then it's straight forward what happened. Blue screen. I didn't know if that was a coincidence which made me stress about it a lot.


The next thing is after I wake up, today, is I get a notification saying my antivirus is off, even tho I click and it isn't.

And also I don't know if it's normal or not but on my Microsoft page I see that I have 2 desktops. One that's mine which has no issues, and one that has antivirus turned off. It also says "To Be Filled By O.E.M." Which is also in a weird location.


That's all, if anyone can confirm it's a coincidence then, well, yay. But if someone else can confirm that my computer is hacked/virused then, well, f**k, but I'd love some help on how to have my computer safe again. Thanks for reading this whole dumb question. I appreciate it

Try to perform the below steps:

• Scan the system with the
  Microsoft Safety Scanner.
• Turn ON the Windows Updates and get all the required Updates to install.

Hacked computer

My computer was hacked and I lost my admin rights. I tried doing a recovery, but that failed. Incomplete. Can't get to lock screen anymore

Any suggestions?

 

Email Hacked

Hello Greg

thank you for your response and the great information you provided.

I use two step authentication for my email account and all important web sites. I also use the full version of Malwarebytes to protect my computer.

But I will do the scans you suggested AdwCleaner and Limewire.com and let you know the results.

I am worried though that the webcam installed on my laptop could have been hacked. I never use it and forgot about it, so never disabled it.

Any suggestions as to find if it was actually hacked?
