Windows 10: Is there a way to FORCE update from Windows 1803 to 1909

For about 6 months I have been trying to update my desktop PC from Windows 10 1803 to 1903 and more recently 1909 and it fails with the following error message:


upgrade error 0xC1900101 - 0x30018 The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error in SYSPREP_SPECIALIZE operation


I have read everything I can find on the internet about this error and have run all fixes and troubleshooters that I can find, several of the scans have reported issues initially and those issues have been fixed. Now none of the scans or troubleshooters reports an issue. But the upgrade still fails with this error.

The hardware on my PC is completely modern Ryzen 3900x on Asus X370 motherboard and I have nothing plugged in but keyboard ,mouse, and monitor.


Rebuilding my PC from scratch is not an option because I don't have installation means on several of the old apps on my computer that I don't want to lose.


It would be awesome if there was a way to force the upgrade to complete. I think it would be easier to fix any broken device AFTER the upgrade, than trying over and over again to get this very slow upgrade process to complete. I have a disk image to go back to if the forced-upgrade-system was not bootable.


Is there a way to force the Upgrade process to complete in spite of a driver error?

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

No you do not need to update to 1809 - 1903 if you are currently on version 1803, then version 1909 will appear in the list of updates and will automatically be installed on your PC since 1803 has run out of support

You do not need to do anything, 1909 is currently spreading around the world, just give it time to appear in the list of pending updates . . .

 

Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

Steps to confirm issue:

• Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
• Secondary drive not visible in device manager
• Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

Steps to replicate issue:

• Installing 1909 update

Steps to resolve issue:

• Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.
