Is there any way to make the Preview Pane folder specific?

Is there any way to make the Preview Pane folder specific?

I would like to have folders remember whether or not I want the preview pane on or off...

For example, whenever I open a folder full of pictures, I always want the preview pane to be on, the icons to be large and arranged by date.

However, whenever I open a folder full of documents, I always want the preview pane to be off, and the icons to be "details" and arranged alphabetically.

I remember loving the way Windows XP use to work like this, I could turn the preview pane on or off, set the icon size and the way they sorted for a particular folder, and the next time I returned to that folder, it would remember how I had left it.

Hoping this feature is still there, I just need to be told how to enable it in Windows 10... and I don't mean how to turn the preview pane on and off, I'm talking about how to make each folder remember it's own preview on or off setting so I don't have to keep turning the pane on and off...

    Because, it's a pain... ;-)

    Thanks,

    Alex

Is there any way to make the Preview Pane folder specific?

Preview pane doesn't work in Windows 10

    Hi RuthZekowski,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.

    1. Are you facing issue with all your files or any particular files?
    2. Which version of Windows you are using?
    3. Since when are you facing this issue?

The Preview pane shows the contents of certain files selected in File Explorer. For images, it is a thumbnail preview.

If you are unable to preview in File explorer, I suggest you to try the below steps.

    1. Open a new File Explorer window and click the View tab from the ribbon toolbar.
    2. Click Options, and then click Change folder and search options to open Folder Options dialog.
    3. Check the Show preview handlers in preview pane box, and click/tap on OK.

Please reply for all the required information to help you further.

    Hope it helps.
