So when you virtualize ram on physical storage using a USB stick, it doesn't appear alongside your memory usage in TaskManager. I wanted to know how I can verify how much RAM is being used by the USB's nand flash

  2. Readyboost

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I will assist you with this.

ReadyBoost can speed up your computer by using storage space on most USB flash drives and flash memory cards.

ReadyBoost uses the Superfetch service that should be enabled and set to "Running" and "Automatic".

For ReadyBoost to effectively speed up your computer, the flash drive or memory card should have at least 1 gigabyte (GB) of available space. If your drive or card doesn't have enough available space for ReadyBoost , you'll see a message telling you to free
some space on it. For best results, use a flash drive or flash memory card with at least double the amount of available space as the amount of memory (RAM) in your computer.

I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if it helps.

    1. Plug the flash drive into a USB port on your computer.

    2. In the AutoPlay dialog box, choose Speed Up My System.

    3. The flash drive’s Properties dialog box appears with the
    ReadyBoost tab upfront.

    4. Click on ReadyBoost tab.

    5. Choose the Use This Device option.

    6. Click OK.

Hope this information was helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to assist.

    ReadyBoost: What's the deal

    Hi Sandy

ReadyBoost is basically a way of adding more RAM to your PC without physically needing to insert more RAM

Many factors can some into play with regards to why your PC is acting more reliable and more responsive when ReadyBoost is enabled

The speed of your internal RAM, if the flash drive access is quicker on that PC, that would explain this

If there is a lot of your internal RAM set aside for hardware, then ReadyBoost will be very useful on that system seeing as you only have 4GB of RAM, Windows will use 2GB+ just by itself

The main thing is, if your system is more reliable and responsive with ReadyBoost enabled, then continue to use it, or increase the amount of internal memory on your PC . . .

    Readyboost

I have a new PC with 16 GB RAM and I am considering using a USB pendrive for ReadyBoost.

Should I expect a performance improvement in using ReadyBoost with Windows 10?

Where can I locate the requirement for the pendrive to be used for ReadyBoost?

    Regards
