  1. IS THIS A SCAM

The following has been happening daily (sometimes 2 times per day) while using Microsoft Edge:

A "notice" takes over the screen and has a loud piercing noise. Warns that a virus has infected your computer and taken your

information. Warns that this must be dealt with immediately by phoning "Windows Support" at 855 698 1882. The message says not to restart or shut computer down as this can lead to loss of personal information. However that is the only way to get rid of this "pop-Up". The pop-up blocker is on and there is virus protection and regular updates. Is this a scam or real?

If a scam how can it be prevented.

    :)
