I'm w/this users opinion, i've tried a lot of so called "Rated the best by AVLabs" and all i've encounterd was trouble, slow downs, hangs, BSOD's, infinite loops of "Tune Up" add ons now AVG tune up suite is constantly trying to Defrag my external HD when I've checked it w/other disk clean up tools. It is not fragmented or corrupted. Also all of the top rated ones all had to have a special "Removal Tool" in order to uninstall them or I would keep getting a warning my PC was at risk or endless pop-ups to renew/buy now crap notices. I think I will go w/Win Defender + adw + MWBytes + Macrium reflect (w/regular use). Glad I read this thread.

WD is good enough but the weakness common to all AVs are being based on a signature model , which is obsolete.
Reason why modern AVs uses all kind of preventive features (BB, HIPS, Application Control, Sandbox, etc...) to prevent 0-days as much as they can without hampering the user experience.

    - From the a beginner perspective , they have to use those AVs because they lack the required skills to use anything more complex.
    - From an advanced user perspective, using an AV is pointless when you have more efficient tools like Anti-exe, SRPs or sandboxes and other light Virtualization apps.

This youtester doesn't even know what he is talking about...

    1- he disabled Smartscreen obviously
2- he click yes on UAC...as if any common sensed user will do that, only happy clickers would click yes on an alert for an unknown file...
3- WD is good with prevalent malware , not so good against 0-days like the file he used. hence why Smartscreen was made system wide on Win8/10.

Basically his test has nothing to do with a real world situation.

A prime example of my post #5. And let's not forget those users who turn off UAC because it is just too inconvenient for them to have to click OK one more time when asked for administrator permission.

Thanks because the only issue was my banking but my bank told me as long as I have a antivirus and they said something about trustee rapport so I use that on my browser to keep my sites save I was to use the free avast but as long as defender and doing my updates regular is all I need I'm good thanks for your quick reply

Well I wanna say that for the past months I have used Defender things have been great, but the other day I had to use Adware cleaner since i had gotten infected with some qmgr bugs.

Thankfully everything seems fine now. But I was surprised that defender didn't sense anything.
