Windows 10: Is Windows 10's File Explorer able to read ID3 v2.4 tags on MP3s?

I should clarify that Windows Updates (WU) are fine on a VHD install.

Technical Preview Updates are the issue - when the next Preview Build is released for download (through WU) that is what fails. For instance going from 10.041 to 10.049 failed, all 'normal' Windows Updates succeeded (except one HW driver which turns out wasn't needed)

For the next TP release I have to create an ISO and clean install to a new VHD and everything is good.
There's a tutorial for ESDtoISO, but that might be getting ahead of the game.

Decide how you're going to test Win10 (if you're going to test Win10) and then open a new thread as issues crop up. This thread won't get much attention for install issues because it focuses on id3 tags.

The tutorials I posted and comments in them are the best good source, I think you're savvy enough to sort though the information.

I click on the link and the page opens, but before I can read anything another page loads and obliterates it.

try refreshing or reloading the page. I think the same thing happened to me, but I just clicked the 3 votes button .

I just visited and there wasn't an issue this time.

Pale Moon & MS page perhaps?

I turned off IE (Pgms & Feats) and use Spartna as my MS browser. But due to issues with that, I installed Pale Moon - and then uninstalled it. I finally ended up With Chrome - which seems to be the most stable browser running in Win10.

Many of the issues with Spartan and Pale Moon seem to be related to Flash, but I don't think that applies to what you're seeing (although it might - some of those fly-by drop down boxes might be flash). Javascript is more likely the culprit - why Chrome doesn't suffer that same issues beats me *Wink

ID3 v2.4 tags are not handled in Win10 (or previous versions) in the feedback app (I couldn't - lol

To even open the Feedback App, I would have to enable online log in (which I refuse to do).

Strangely enough, when I first installed b10041 I was able to open the Feedback App.
I was planning to do the MS suggested missions.
Now I can't.

I'll check to see if the same thing happens in IE11.

I refuse to use Chrome (whenever I have a choice).
Unfortunately I do need to use it to check websites (Web Design course).
I use a VM with multiple browsers (IE10, FF37, Chrome, Maxthon 3, Opera) for that though.

Google needs to record that info for their databases. *Sad

It works in W10TP b10041 using IE11.

PM behaves even worse in W10TP b10041.
I can't even stop the page from redirecting using the "Stop" button.

 

I tried this fix. Unfortunately embedded artwork still isn't displayed in file explorer details pane for id3v2.4. All text related tags now appear, but artwork does not. So this fix does not work for embedded artwork.

 

I tried this and it did not work well for me.
I deleted just the mp3 value from the registry key -- how do i restore it?
I tried using Windows Restore to revert to a system a few days earlier, but it failed.
(said there were files it could not access, most likely due to my virus protection program)
(I can make my kaspersky protection inactive, but it is still running and apparently in the way)
Is there a way to restore just the registry key for mp3? What data do I put in there?
