Windows 10: Issue: All icons on the desktop disappeared

We had recently faced an issue with our desktop, when we turn our PC on, we can't see any folders, shortcuts or saved files on the desktop anymore. It seems like everything disappeared from the desktop, and we need now to recover all the folders, shortcuts and files on the desktop. Also, we want to know the reason, why this would have occurred? and How to resolve this issue?

Desktop Icons disappeared

Hi Kinsley,

• Are you referring to the desktop icons?
• When did the icons disappear? Did you make any changes to the system Settings?

It's possible that your device is in Tablet mode. I suggest you to turn it off and check if the icons appear. To do so, select the
Action center icon on the taskbar (the little message box next to the date and time), and then select
Tablet mode to turn it on or off.

Desktop Icons Won't Stay Put

Hi Laurie,

As per the issue description I understand that you are facing issues with desktop icons.

I suggest you try the following step in order to arrange the icons.

• Right click on the desktop.
• Click on view
• Check the option auto arrange icons.

Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.
