Issue connecting my Xbox wireless controller to my PC or my laptop

It is an Xbox one wireless controller with Bluetooth. It works great when connected so no issues there.

The issue is that I play on both my desktop and my laptop with my Xbox wireless controller. But every time I go from one to the other it will not connect to my wireless controller. I have to go into Bluetooth settings, remove the controller completely then re-add it to get it to reconnect to either machine when coming from gaming on the other one.

For example: I've been playing a game on my desktop (higher end gaming machine) and my controller was working fine. Then last night I decided to go and play the game some more on my laptop (it is a lower end gaming laptop with a gtx 960m gpu), I went through the process of connecting it via Bluetooth and it worked fine, after I was done gaming I shut the laptop down. I go back to my desktop today and it would not connect to the controller until I removed it from Bluetooth devices then rediscovered it.

Is it common to have to rediscover a Bluetooth controller if I connect it to a different computer in the interim?

Is there any way around this so that I can just click the connect button and it will work?

    Thanks in advance,

    Bruce

Wireless Xbox One controller requires PIN for Windows 10.

    Hi,

You will be asked for a PIN when connecting your wireless Xbox One controller via Bluetooth on Windows 10 if your Bluetooth drivers are not updated. It is also possible that you have to reset the controller to remove the PIN. To resolve your concern, restart
your controller by following the steps below:

    • Power off the controller by pressing and holding the Xbox button on the controller for 6 seconds.
    • Press the Xbox button again to power it back on.
    • Connect your Xbox Wireless Controller to your PC using a USB cable or the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows.

You can also update your Bluetooth drivers by following the steps on this
    link
    .

Keep us updated with the results after performing the suggested solutions above.
