  1. Issue getting microphone to work

Hello everyone, I'm trying to use an old pair of Apple earbuds with the 3.5mm jack as my audio output and microphone. I'm usingthis audio splitter, and I'm connecting the pink end to my front panel microphone jack and the green end is connected to the front panel speaker out. I'm able to hear audio just fine but I can't get the microphone working. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need any additional information to help diagnose what the issue could possibly be. Some things I tried to do already are running the troubleshooter which doesn't find any issues, checking if my mic is muted, and checking which input device is selected. Apologies if this is in the wrong Windows topic but I was unsure what other category would fit.

    :)

    Microphone issues

    Hi Michael,

Here are the possible reasons why you're getting an error "The microphone did not pick anything up" when using it:

    • Incorrect settings (microphone is not set as default device)
    • Corrupted or outdated driver
    • Faulty device

For us to isolate the issue, we'd like to know the following:

    • Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue(e.g. Windows updates)?
    • Have you tried connecting other microphone to your computer?
    • Have you tried connecting the microphone to the other computer?

In the meantime, we suggest running the Recording Audio Troubleshooter to find and repair problems with recording sound. We also suggest checking if your microphone is set as your default recording device. For troubleshooting steps, please see
    Geethu B's on this
    link.

We're looking forward to your reply.
