Windows 10: Issue with Duplicating 3 displays

When I connect my Lenovo ThinkPad P1 - Gen 5 to 2 external displays and select "Duplicate" mode, 2 of the screens are duplicating but 1 is getting extended. I only have the options to "Duplicate desktops 1 and 3 / 2 and 3". I need an option to duplicate desktops 1,2 and 3. How can I achieve it?

How to duplicate 3 displays in Windows 10?

I'm running a setup with 1 monitor and 1 computer with an RX470 where they are connected with 3 cables: DVI Dual Link, HDMI and DP. Both Windows and the AMD software correctly detect these connections - as 3 monitors. I switch between the input type via a button on my monitor. The problem should be the same with 3 different monitors and any connection types.

Windows allows me to:

• Disable any of them.
  
• Extend any of them.
  
• Duplicate any 2 of them.
  

However, I want to duplicate all 3. I read a bit around other sites and it seems to be a limitation of Windows 10, but I didn't find a definitive source. Some suggest that you have to use additional hardware like a splitter.

I suggest you to change the extended display to Duplicate display and check if it helps:

Steps:

• Connect your device.
• Right click on Desktop and select Display settings.
• Set the Customize your display to duplicate display.
• Check if it helps.

Duplicating Display

I didn't realize that but I will sure will look and give it a try.

But first, I need to figure out how to get into the BIOS...

Thanks for reminding me to look into this but no such setting in the BIOS.

However, what I did notice is the machine creates a 3rd display when I pick "Duplicate". As you can by the first screenshot, it appears as just "wired display" and the second screenshot shows 1 & 3 being recognized and not 2. Then when I go back to extend I have 3 displays instead of 2. So keep this in mind, the additional display is listed as 3 in "display settings" where it says to rearrange your displays but 2 in "advanced display settings."

Lastly, in advanced display settings, the LCD monitor not shows a status of, "isn't active".

I'm puzzled, any ideas?
