Windows 10: Issue with using WUSHOWHIDE

Discus and support Issue with using WUSHOWHIDE in Windows 10 Updates and Activation to solve the problem; Yesterday, after numerous problems with the PC trying to update to v1709 Fall CU, I used wushowhide.exe to stop the PC from trying to update itself....     Issue with using WUSHOWHIDE


    Yesterday, after numerous problems with the PC trying to update to v1709 Fall CU, I used wushowhide.exe to stop the PC from trying to update itself.

    Selected the 1709 on the list as 'Don't update this'. Got up this morning and saw that the PC updated to 1709 anyway.

    Can MS force an update unattended?

    Try using wushowhide in Windows update troubleshooting. I had the same issue with the error message. This solved my issue with XP Service Pack 3. You can also search Microsoft.com for "wushowhide" .

    Issue with using WUSHOWHIDE

    No, but I've found from experience that it's too late to use wushowhide if windows update has found and started the features update to 1709. You can hide it, but the update has already started and can't be stopped that way.

    If your PC is now running OK with 1709, then I'd leave it as it is. If 1709 is causing problems you have 10 days grace in which you can go back to your previous system. If you do, uses wushowhide immediately to stop windows update finding/installing it again.
