    Issue with windows Update


    I have windows 10 installed. I was trying to install updates on windows 10, but it stop in between. After this my wi-fi service was stopped. System is not showing me wi-fi option in task bar and I have checked in network option also, it was not showing available option. I thought the problem is due to pending windows update, but I was not able to complete it. I uninstall the latest update from control panel, one of which was related to security. But after uninstall of updates also, I was not able unable wi-fi option. I have uninstall and reinstall wi-fi driver also. Tried to install latest driver also from dell's official site, but it is not working. I have tried to install pending updates of windows again, but it is showing me message "Your devices is missing important security and quality fixes" with error code "0X8007042c". I have checked on net, it shows error related to windows fire wall. I checked windows firewall also. It shows message "Windows defender firewall is using setting settings that may make your device unsafe". I have tried "restore setting" option, but error code is not going from windows update and also message is not going from fire wall. I have checked on net for this error code and have checked "windows event log", "windows update" and "remote procedure call RPC". Out of this three services "Windows event log" service is not running and giving error message of "error2 : system cannot find the file specified". Please help me to rectify the problem.

    Definitely not an issue with the Windows Servers as I just re-installed yesterday and got all my updates.

    It works, but I still need to fix it so that way I dont have to plug computers directly to the modem to get windows update to work. It was also blocking me from installing directx.

    If your wireless router has a built in firewall maybe it's somehow set to block the ports that Windows updates use?

    I'd also suggest if it works with it being directly connected then you could try resetting your router to see if this fixes the issue.

    That's my 2 cents anyways. *Smile Issue with windows Update :)
