    Hello :

I'm running Windows 10 with Office365. It was all OK for years until recently I started to have weird issues, related probably? to some OS update.

First I've noticed that I can't run dropbox normally - I need to run it as an administrator, otherwise it just hangs on connecting. Next came issues with Word shortcuts. I restart my machine very rarely, so it took some time I've noticed it - after some reboot I just lost all my custom keyboard shortcuts. They were active in each and every document I worked on probably saved into normal.dot; I know it's not the best way, but it worked flawlessly for years. I redefined a few most used, but after next reboot they disappeared again. Also, I regularly see popup windows with file associations I'm sure I've already set many times before. The OS seems to "forget" them.

There are also less annoying things that haven't happened before - e.g. my libreoffice displays document recovery window every time I start it, with some documents to recover that are already recovered and resaved. Maybe there are other issues, but recently I work almost exclusively with abovementioned apps, so maybe there's something else I'm not aware of.

I somewhere read that it might be related to name change of user folder after update - now it is c:\users\name.000, but can't pinpoint the problem.

    :)

How to fix emoji keyboard not showing up using shortcut

    Hi,

This issue is often caused by a corrupted or missing data file. To better isolate if this is a user profile specific or an emerging issue, we suggest that you create a new user profile and try to use the same keyboard shortcut to get the emoji keyboard to
show up. Here's the link for the steps on how to:
    Set up accounts
    .

In the meantime, we'll give you the steps for a workaround to access the emojis. Here are the steps:

    • Right-click on the Taskbar.
    • Select the Show touch keyboard button option and a keyboard icon will show up on your
      Taskbar.
    • Click the keyboard icon and select the emoji button.

Let us know how it goes and we'll assist you further if needed.

  3. Keyboard Shortcuts

    Hi Richard,

We appreciate you for being part of Windows 10.

This could be an issue due to sticky keys that might be turned on. It could also be a hardware issue with the keyboard.

We need more information to help you better.

    1) Is this issue specific while working on a particular application or program on the computer?

    2) What is the Make and Model of the computer/keyboard?

First of all, to check if it’s a hardware issue with the keyboard. Check if the keys are working when you test the issue with a different keyboard.

I suggest you to follow the below methods and check if you can fix the issue.

    Method 1:

I would suggest you check if the Sticky keys are turned on. If they are turned on, turn them off and test the issue. Follow the steps:

    • Open Desktop.

    • Press Windows + X keys on the keyboard, select
      Control Panel.

    • Click on Ease of Access.

    • Click on Make the keyboard easier to use.

    • Uncheck the box which says “Turn on Sticky keys”.

    • Click on Apply
      and then on OK.
Check if it fixes the issue. If not, proceed to the next method.

    Method 2:

I would suggest you check if you are able to use the keyboard using an On-Screen keyboard. Refer to the below steps to use the on screen keyboard.

    • Open Desktop.

    • Press Windows + I keys to open the Settings menu.

    • Select Ease of access from the settings menu.

    • Click on keyboard from the left navigation pane on the Ease of access settings menu.

    • Turn on the On screen keyboard from the right hand side
If the issue still persists, proceed to the next method.

    Method 3:

A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows.

I would suggest you to refer the below Microsoft help article on How to Perform Clean boot.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

The steps for Windows 8.1 applies well to Windows 10 also.

I hope the above information helps. Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance with Windows. We are glad to assist you.

    Thank you.
