Windows 10: Issues with Windows login. Something went wrong 0x080090016

Hello,

I have been recently been having a decent amount of issues with one of my PC's. I have multiple windows computers connected to one account so i am not sure if that can cause this. Essentially what happens is i can log into my desktop normally. usually a alert will appear in the bottom notification center saying i need to update or change something with my account. I will click on it and it will load "something went wrong, 0x80090016". This has been a issue for a bunch of Microsoft based applications that allow a login through a in program web browser. Same issue with the xbox app, Visual studio, create a local user and OneDrive. I clicked on the "Your info" tab and a verify you identity link is there. When pressed i get a "Keyset does not exist". Overall it is just irritating as i just want to setup a couple things for this PC and can't. Does anyone have any troubleshooting advise? Thanks in advance.

Windows 10 Login issues

I suggest you to provide some information to help you better.

• Did you make any changes prior to the issue?
• Did you try with only safe mode or safe mode with networking?
• What is the critical error you are getting?

If you are using Windows 10. To go to safe mode you have to follow the below steps.

If you are able to go to login screen in normal mode try the below steps to go to safe mode with networking and check if the issue persists.

• 
  At the login screen click on the power symbol.
  
• 
  Hold SHIFT + Click Restart.
  
• 
  After restarting your system, select the Troubleshoot option.
  
• 
  Select advanced options under
  Troubleshoot screen.
  
• 
  Click on Startup Settings.
  
• 
  Click Restart and follow the onscreen steps to go to
  Safe Mode with networking and check if you are able to login.
  
• 
  If it logs in Create a new user account and link the Microsoft account and check if the issue persists.

Can't login to new computer w/Windows 10

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to select the appropriate language in login screen at the bottom right corner and check if it helps.

Steps 2: Use On-screen keyboard in the login screen to login and check if it helps.

Resolving login issues
