Issues with X99, USB, and Windows 10

I have an issue with X99 and Windows 10 that I could really use some help on. I will do my best to lay out all the hardware I have used and things I have done in order to try to figure out what is going.

    System Specs:
System 1: CPU: i7-6800k Mobo: MSI X99A XPOWER Gaming Titanium

System 2: CPU: i7-6800k Mobo: Gigabyte X99 Phoenix SLI

System 3: CPU: i7-6850k Mobo: Gigabyte X99 Phoenix SLI

    Common Components between Systems:

RAM: Kingston HyperX HX424C15FBK4/64 (64GB Quad Channel)
    SSD 1: Intel 750 SSD PCI-e 480GB
    SSD 2: Samsung PM951 512GB
    Additional Drives : 3 SSD (2 in RAID 0), 2 2TB HDDs
    WiFi/Bluetooth: Intel 8260 (M.2, connected at manufacturer)
    Case: Corsair 750D w/ USB3 and USB2 hubs attached
Monitor: Dell U3415W with USB3 Hub attached (single hub, 2 ports)
Keyboard: Razer Blackwidow Chroma X & Razer Orbweave Chroma Mouse: Razer Naga Chroma
KVM: Iogear GCS1102 (Blackwidow and Naga are connected to this)
    OS: Windows 10 Pro

    Additional devices:
Headsets: Razer Kraken v2 USB and Logitech G930 (not connected at the same time) Microphone: Blue Yeti Webcam: Razer Stargazer and Logitech C920 (not connected at the same time)
Card Reader: Rosewill RCR-300 (USB 3.0) and NZXT Apeture M (USB 2.0) (Not connected at the same time)

I think that covers all hardware that has been connected. I built both of these systems myself.
Anyway, the issue is weird to me. With all the devices connected, the Bluetooth on the AC8260 fails. The WiFi portion of the devices works fine. Also, once I try to connect any headset or webcam to either setup they fail. The error I receive in all instances is "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)". This error initially happens without a webcam or headset connected.

After I connect a headset, all sound stops working. I am also unable to change sound settings without the "Sound" menu in Windows crashing.

When I connect a webcam, I receive the same "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" error for the webcam.

One behavior I noticed during troubleshooting: If I remove the uninstall the webcam, headset, and bluetooth from the device manager and remove all their drivers, on reboot they work for about 2 minutes. After that 2 minute period, they go back to same errors mentioned above.

    Things I have tried:
Complete format and reinstall of Windows 10 (Anniversary and Creator's updates)
Complete format and install of Windows 8.1
Complete format and install of Windows 7
    Prayer to several deities
    Complete disconnection of all devices
Complete removal of all drivers and software for devices
Reconnecting the devices while the system is powered on (I know this is not the best thing to do, but I was willing to try anything)
A dance a shaman in the Amazon once taught me
    Eating food
Removing all USB hubs (including the KVM, except front panel) and directly connecting all devices to the USB ports on the motherboard*

*Note: The 8260 is connected to a M.2 slot on the motherboard (in the case of the Gigabyte board) and on a proprietary connector to riser to M.2 on the motherboard (in the case of the MSI). The Kraken/G930 and Stargazer/C920 have never been connected to a USB hub and have always been connected directly to USB ports from the motherboard(s).

In the case of MSI, I contacted their technical support. They ended up sending me a new WiFi/Bluetooth module. It provided the same error.

I have went so far as to contact Intel's Customer Support (which are not that bad, surprisingly). I sent them diagnostic information using SSU and IPDT with the Gigabyte/6800k combo. Now that I am currently using System 3, I should probably send that information as well (doing this post made me thing of it).

    Any thoughts?

    :)

  2. [Win10][Intel]Can't wake-up a system in Sleep mode, and then when i press Power button, system will force to restart

    Dear Sir,

[Symptom] Can't wake-up a system in Sleep mode, and when i press Power button, system will force to restart

    it has failure rate: 3/10

This issue can reproduce in many intel chipset, like intel X99, B250, Z270

Steps: S3/S4 → Wakeup with USB mouse → Press power button → will force system to restart

Try to do the following troubleshooting steps from ASUS suggestions, still not work:

1、Disable Fast Startup option in "Control Panel"

2、Confirm the Erp Ready setting is Disabled in BIOS setting

3、Confirm usb keyboard can wakeup system in sleep mode

    4、Disable ‘Intel(R) Management Engine Interface’

(Refer microsoft KB FAQ. 升級到Windows 10後 ,如何解決休 /睡 模式問題? How to solve Hibernation/Sleep issue after upgrading to Windows 10 ? | Official Support | ASUS Global

    [System Information]

    1. Windows 10x64 RS2/RS3

    2. ASUS X99- WS/IPMI (Intel X99)

    3. Intel Management Engine Interface driver version: 11.0.0.1172 (Use Windows update, it says it's the best suitable driver version )

  4. Issues with X99, USB, and Windows 10

Hi tyrdchaos. Welcome to the TenForums @tyrdchaos.

First thing I would do is drop the bluetooth modules (remove from system). Wire the Lan in. Then test. Does the webcam still act the same, how about headset?

You didn't mention what sound card / adapter is present in all devices? Have you tried installing manufactures original drivers? (Not the latest and greatest.)

Without referencing your extensive list what do you use Bluetooth for?
