Windows 10: Issuses with Microsoft Keyboards - 800 and 850!

I have had a Microsoft 800 keyboard for several years now, never had an issue. I have been using it on a windows 7.


Earlier this month I bought a new computer - operating system is windows 10 pro.


Since then, I have had issues with the keyboard - it suddenly stops working (not responding), At first I thought batteries were weak, So I changed, several times, but nothing. I have noticed that the keyboard will work flawlessly if I put it in a spesific angle. But there were still issues. I believed it was the keyboard - because when I pressed the battery housing - it was working. So I thought it's just past it's time and I bought a new one - the 850.


However, even on the new out of the box 850 I am still having this issues. So I came to a point and understand that is the usb receiver - weak signal most probably. The computer sit in the same place where the old one sat - just different case - a bigger one. That might be the issue - but it's exteremly disappointing - I bought a new keyboard, which now I cant hand back - and lost money on a lousy product. Is the signal of those keyboard that weak? The distance between the computer itself and the keyboard is a meter at most!!!! I have never had an issue like this. I moved the computer close as I can to the keyboard and I am still having this sudden loss of connection, which then, I need to 'play' with the keyboard place until I get it right.



I have tried deleting drivers and let it installl again, I have downloaded from Microsoft website the latest drivers for the 850, the batteries are new, same goes for the Intelitype and the other Intelisomething program. I have bought a new keyboard as I though the old one is done for but it isn't the case = lost money in the process for nothing.

Microsoft Wireless 850 keyboard and mouse

Thank you for purchasing the Microsoft 850 wireless keyboard and mouse. Most wireless keyboards does not have LED indicators for "NUM LOCK" and "CAPS LOCK" to save battery life.

If you really need to have some sort of indicator for the "NUM LOCK" and "CAPS LOCK" we suggest to follow the suggestion of DR HARISH LRAO on a similar post. Here's the link: Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 800 - is there a Caps Lock indicator light?

Good day!

So sorry to hear that you lost your USB trans-receiver of your Microsoft wireless keyboard 850.

You have to buy a new set of the Microsoft wireless keyboard 850, you can not buy only the USB trans-receiver for the Microsoft wireless keyboard 850.

Error 1603 when installing driver for Microsoft 850 keyboard/mouse

I have a 64-bit i7 Dell Notebook and am running on Windows 10. I am trying to install the driver for a Microsoft "Wireless 850 Desktop" keyboard/mouse combo. The install keeps failing and I get a box come up saying:

"Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Centre - Setup must close because a error occurred. Verify that you computer meets the system requirements on the product packaging. Restart your computer and try running Setup again. If this
error happens again, see Help for customer support options (Error code 1603)."

My system is apparently compatible and I've done all that has been suggested without any success. Ironically I also have a wireless Logitech keyboard/mouse combo too and that works perfectly, but I want the Microsoft 850 to work properly too. What steps
do I need to go though to fix the problem once and for all? Thanks.
