Well, in XP, all users had full admin access. So, they could more easily do more damage.

Kaspersky is one of the worst for muscling 'antivirus madness' onto your machine without you understanding what's going on!
Windows Defender works best with Windows 10!

  5. Sorry for my poor English comprehension. I don't understand the above sentence.
Do you mean 'if they install it, 99.99% of what they actually get is just scareware'?

  6. Since this topic is still alive I will add something interesting.

Indeed, AVs fail to detect malware using WSH and powershell scripts. On the other hand Comodo Firewall, or more precisely, its sandbox was able to stop all ransomware, without any AV installed, that says it all. *Zip

Hi that's also easy to break -- what if your Ransomware worked as far as Windows is concerned as a Legitimate program --say it masqueraded as Photoshop.exe --your firewall unless it had maps of every program code would not be able to say it was "Ransomware" and would allow it !!!!!.

Even simpler - a small program which re-names the Ransomware into something legit and then does its nasty business.

Firewalls are better for keeping services / ports restricted -- however once you even THINK of emails then all is lost if you aren't careful. !!!

So don't rely too much done by computer - that lulls people into false sense of security

Actually the ROUTER usually has a good firewall but people often neglect to use that.

    Cheers
