It would be unreasonable for MS to not allow Win 7/8 + 10 dual boot

If you can use 2 copies of the same OS (one original and one clone) on the same machine, why not an upgraded 7 to 10 and the original 7 installation? I am running 2 copies of Windows 7 on my machine. The original one for my daily computing and a cloned one for messing up or testing programs. I think the best way for you to find out is to clone your 7 and upgrade it to 10 and keep your original 7. Bottom line, as long as the OS (no matter how many copies) is running on the same machine, it will be fine. It's not like you can use multiple copies of OS in one machine at one time. Now if you are saying that an MS Account will prevent this, we'll find out later. I won't find that out myself because I am not giving up my 7. I will get a separate license for 10 if I need one later. There is no such thing as FREE. There's always a trade-off.

Have always done a clone, in this case W8.1.
Note.... I fear.....what I think... are not categorical statements caste in stone. they are based on a possible outcome based on certain facts.
    I have appreciated your input.

Don't get me wrong. I am just giving you also my 2 cents. But my last statement is always true. *Smile

  4. It would be unreasonable for MS to not allow Win 7/8 + 10 dual boot

I do have a dual boot setup. Disconnect the other drives during an install or update. I will continue to dual boot in the future. My win 7 will be my main OS and I will upgrade my win 8.1 pro. I expect my win 8.1 to be deactivated as I plan to replace with Win 10 so I don't care. My Win 7 won't be deactivated.

I see you have added another O/S not noted on your side panel, so yes you do have a dual boot setup.
I take it you no longer wish to take part in the Windows Insider programme if you are updating your W8.1 O/S. see post 20 attachment thumbnails, in this thread.

  6. It's not on my side panel because I don't use it ever and never will. I have read all the posts in this thread and no I don't plan on taking part in the insiders program once Win 10 is released. I plan on dual booting as in the past and if Win 10 works out for me then that will be my OS and will discontinue using Win 7. I have done this procedure with every new OS. I was not happy with 8, 8,1 so I reverted back to Win 7 never to use Win 8.1 again.

This for the people that are talking about dual booting.

Let say you two windows 7 both retail key

Are you saying Microsoft not going to allow any type of dual booting windows 7 & 10 by deactivating the windows 7 key even if you upgraded from one of them? If so, that stinks and it makes Microsoft windows 10 sp...can't say yet tell further testing.

I am going to do further testing to see if the upgrade key changes or stays the same after deleting the pid.txt file.
