    It’s My Data; Not Yours

    April 2, 2020 31, Began March 31, 2020

This is a discussion I would like to make for an inquiry on the usage of computer bits and bytes used from the Internet. By way of the Internet connection, there is a data exchange when I go to any Internet site. Each time there is a movement in the Graphic User Interface from the Internet there is a data exchange or data send, the use of bits and bytes.

Let’s just say I use the ‘Outlook’ email with my MSN email. When I send an email I use a certain amount of data and this data is applied to my data count. If I have a 10 Gig data usage, some of that email is applied to my data usage.

Now when I go to the ‘Outlook’ there is a horrible selection of tiered images and adds that changes with every action I use in the email program. Ugly faces of images of representation of social situations I would never live my life as depicted in the ads. Or pictures which, If I move my programs curser over for a click or tap, takes me to the associated connection with the ad. Whether it is harmful to my computer or device or not ; Whether the connection installs a program on my computer or not in fact there is a data exchange; Is this not correct?

Have the perplexed data usage programs of the Internet become too cumbersome for my operation or personal computer security of the ‘Smart Phone’ or computer? When suggested I go or use an Internet site referred to by a broadcast licensee; holy woo, what a click or mouse over or finger tap mind field of data traps

    :)

  3. Lost data from hard drive, what to do now?

Well, I'm sorry to hear that it's a WD My Passport that failed on you, @tomhenry ! *Frown Its my data I pay for. Not theirs :(
I'd recommend you to try using a different USB cable with it and see if that will help your system to detect it without it disconnecting.
I'd also suggest you to go to Disk Management and see how the drive is listed there. It won't hurt to check up on the health and SMART status of the HDD by running the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from the WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics. Here's a link to the available software: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=11ZOpD

Give these troubleshooting steps a try and keep us posted with the results!

    Data Usage

    Hello,

yes I did read all of it.

I also contacted with Technical Support (TS). Theirs first steps also didn't help. Next steps I consider not worth the time and
efforts (probably that was the same thing you suggest now). It's only small
inconvenience, I'm not pro. TS reported my problem to the proper places and guys and maybe next upgrade will fix it.

I can also tell, that I switched from Ethernet to WiFi and, so far, Network Data Usage count right.

    Once again, thanks for help.
